WTF is happening with .ASIA domains?

It's been something like 8 months since I put in some applications, and they still all show as "pending application".

What gives?

Wierdest timing though, just had an email in saying they were going to auction the domains I paid for already (WTF again - nice scam fuckers) on July 1st and 2nd. I don't even want the domains now they have pissed me off so much.

.ASIA was intended as an auction from the getgo.

Some registrars have glossed over the auction detail, misleading people to believe they're getting something they're not.

You didn't pay for anything yet - rather you have only put down an advanced deposit for future .asia purchases.

You will likely get a refund for the .asia domains you don't get.

you kind of applied for the domain, and if there are more than one application, they go into auction .. this is how it works.

and if you don't get the domain, you get refund of application fee. AFAIK.

It kind of sucks that you spend a few hours researching what are possibly great domains to the right person, and think you have it, next thing you know, you're stuck in a bidding war for an unknown quantity.

I am not going to bid on any of them now, I ASSumed at the start, and from what I'd read, that if the domain had not been applied for, then first come first served.

Domain trading seems full of assholes everywhere you turn.
