Heh, someone had some time on their hands. : )

I still don't understand the huge wings on FWD cars... How does rear downforce help front wheel traction?

adds more weight to the back of the car when at high speeds as the air pushes on your wings giving you more control of your back end when taking corners at higher speeds, thus allowing your front wheels to be turned more and more and you not worrying about the back end sliding out of line or spinning!!

Or something like that!

All those car mods make you feel like you're driving a faster car -- even when the guy next to you is in his Porsche. It's all about how you feel!

Actually it doesnt do anything at all. 99% of the wings you see on ricer hondas are 0 downforce.

Good point. Same effect as feeling better driving a newly washed clean sparkling car.

Spoilers = drag

drag means you use more gas and slow yourself down in a straight line.

The only tradeoff is for traction which as homegrown said, is not going to help a fwd car in a straight line...

Its amazing how big the wings are getting here though, they seem to get bigger every year.

I love it. Ricers are a joke. I used to have a Z-28. 6-speed, flowmaster exhaust, Paxton supercharger, fuel pump, ignition, new rails and injectors. The car looked plain jane. No stickers, no mods to the body, stock wheels, not so much as exhaust tips. I could do high 12s on street tires. Some wiseass in a Honda was always trying to race me. I was never beaten by a ricer...never. Not even close.

I did however tangle with a 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 and got my ass handed to me, but he was far from a ricer.

I fucking hate street racers in general. Asians, mexicans, white trash who get some piece of shit car, soup it up, and think they are a badass.

Actually, a spoiler is a must for extended speeds over 130-140-150.. the backend in most cars tends to get light at those speeds. Of course, a ricer isn't going to see north of 120 anyway..

Sorry but my RICER will easily do 160 MPH and I have been at 156MPH but thought to myself how shitty it would be to stay in jail that night and I let off.

I have another auto that will take my RICER (modded GMC Sylcone) That will easily take any car mentioned in this thread. Its running in the low-mid 12's and around a 4 flat in the 0-60.

But for all you RICER haters out there, my good friend has a civic hatch (w/ HUGE turbo) that will run high 10's. Not even I can keep up with this little fucker~!

How long does it take for you to hit 160? And is that downhill with a tailwind? AND.. it's still a RICER.

Syclone's are nice.. (along with Typhoons). Such a weird vehicle from GMC.. I wonder why they didn't continue them.

Incidently, the new 2003 Cobra has a factory supercharger and puts out 390rhp. With a few simple mods (no chip, warrenty still intact), they've gotten it to 480rhp running 11 sec passes. Not too shabby and there's room for improvement..

But for all you RICER haters out there, my good friend has a civic hatch (w/ HUGE turbo) that will run high 10's. Not even I can keep up with this little fucker~!

I respect guys who love speed (hopefully they can drive without wrapping it around a telephone pole) but jesus, you're not going to get a whole lot of respect in an $8,000 car, no matter what kind of engine, rims and spoiler you put on it.

Well...I don't give respect based on a car anyways, so who gives a fuck? I like my riced little turbo piece of shit, even if I can afford a better car I choose not to.
Mostly because the 'mods' are hand built by me of fiberglass, and I've spent so many hours cursing at it, that I'd hate to sell the fucker for measily 10k? (Cars here cost a bit more than there).

Fiberglass? That material is shit.. you get in one accident and it's TOTALLY destroyed.

Everyday here I see ricers (usually the really scrawny Asian guys) driving Civic hatch-backs with a fart can in the back thinking they are the hottest thing since fried chicken.

The thing that gets me the most pissed off is that the car was probably a gift from their rich parents or a rich uncle (it's ALWAYS the rich uncle).

Can't wait to ride in with my 3KGT.. now that's a hot motherfucker and it's no present ;)

Sorry if I was rambling folks.
