Do you let your dogs/pets sleep in your bed?

Or on the couch?
We are trying to break our dogs of these habbits. They think that they are people.

Do you allow animals to sleep in your bed? Or on the furniture at all?

why have an animal in the house if he can't get up on the furniture?

I let my dog sleep wherever he wants when I'm not there.

Once I got on my bed or couch, he knows that's my territory and gets down.

I have given up trying to keep them off the furniture and the bed, they think they are lap dogs.

my girls are 3 pounds and 8 pounds so its not a big deal to have the in bed with me... plus they r house dogs and i get them groomed weekly : )

if your dogs shed a lot, i would say might be a good idea to start getting them out of the habit... try using a water gun and spray them a few times everytime they go up on something u dont want them to and say "NO"... should work by day 3...

I got 2 cats, I have 1 who sleeps on a old hoody of mine that's on one of the couch and the other usually on my bed. I always put up a sheet on my bed in the morning after I make it and take it off when I go to bed. Eliminates a lot of cat hair ;-)

It's probably too late now. Gotta get em young. My Lab knows it would be the worst sin he could commit if he jumps on the couch or bed.

Our lab jumps up on a couch of hairs and licks it. It wouldn't be bad if he just laid there but the licking makes the material feel rough after a while. We just cover it up with remotes etc now. Since he is 100 lbs, he needs his room up there so he usually just stays on the floor now.

My dog likes to lay with me on the couch, but if I doze off I will frequently find him on the other couch. Guess couch isn't big enough for the two of us.

i have a 2 year old basset hound, and an 8 month old miniature pincher, and the hound dog stays in the laundry room and is not allowed on the couches at all because he just sheds way to damn much, but the min pin we let sleep with us on the bed and get on the couch cause she doesnt shed one bit and doesnt drool. unfair i know, but our hound doesnt mind.

I don't have a dog but sometimes i'll take care of my sister's dog..

It has very long hair that sheds so I don't let it on any of the furniture..

and I don't let it in my bed because of the hair and it likes to sleep dead center of the bed pushing me off or just keeping me awake..

On the bed? Hell no.

He only gets on the couch when I tell him it's ok, he doesn't get on it otherwise.

My dog always slept in her kennel cage. She wasn't allowed on the furniture but she was just the right height she'd always try and back her butt up and sit on the couch like a human.

They have access to the bed and furniture, they are clean so its not a problem. Alot of times at night they will hang out in their cages, we made them a positive place so its their little sanctuary. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...09&pcatid=9409

yeah my dog likes to sleep at the foot of my bed
he is allowed to go on anything except the tables. I clean him throughly after he goes out on walks and give him baths every week so i dont find it a problem if he is on my furniture.

Our igunana sleeps with us sometimes. Yes in the bed under sheets, between me and Patty.

She also sleeps ON Patty sometimes, the 2 are pretty used to slepp together, so when Patty turn over, Godzy (our iguana) turn over with her to stay on the top...

Pitbulls are actually one of the best family dogs you can have. A lab is way more likely to bite in a domestic situation than a pit.

From a guys p.o.v. (okay, this guy's p.o.v.), I am very turned off if I go to a woman's place and it's clear she lets the dog in the bed. I mean, if you're getting down to business and there's dog hairs, well, I think it's fair to say it can be a real mood spoiler.

Couch, fine, but the bed .. no way.

This is my goal.
The dogs aren't big, they are small but they are shedding like crazy and 2 small dogs can be even more annoying than one big dog when one is on each side of you at night.

They have their own doggie beds now & like them a lot. I think that is the first step.
The couch on the other hand I will probably have to learn to live with, especially because I like to snuggle with them from time to time anyway!

I highly doubt that. But I don't buy into the misconception about Pit's not being good family dogs. My Lab has playdates with a Pit, and he's the friendliest dog I know. It's all about the owner.

Our dog isn't allowed up stairs.

It's simple really. We've discovered that dogs and carpets don't mix well. Dogs tend to sleep in the same place, and when a dog sleeps on the carpet in the same spot for two years it destroys the carpet. In our new house, downstairs is all tile and the upstairs is all carpet. So, she stays downstairs. In fact, she's never been upstairs ever.

And no, she surely doesn't sleep with me either. That's why I have a cat.

That's kind of cool, I've never heard of some one taking an iguana to bed with them before, hehe.

I used to have a bearded dragon that would hang out with me while I was on the computer at home, he'd always crawl down the neck of my shirt and fall asleep clinging to my chest.

We have one cat that pretty much sleeps on my head well on the pillow behind me but he has to touch my head somehow or he just wont sleep. a great dane lab mix that sleeps between us and a whippet that spoons with me. If they are part of the family then they are! or then can just be pets? Yes the dogs are shedding monsters we just make sure the couches are leather and I change sheets a lot.

Why is it bad to have your dog sleep on your bed? I let my dog do it and there's certainly no turning back. He loves it. I don't see what's wrong with it.

THEY let me sleep in THEIR bed. It's gotten to where when I visit friends, I have to "borrow" one of their dogs to sleep with me I'm so used to it ;) Either that or find a hairy snoring guy.

Had to stop letting my dog sleep in the bed, bitch has a habit of trying to dig a fucking hole to sleep in.
