I got one super large fan right on my CPU pushing 3200 RPM
then 6 fans all around the box pumping out and a whole liquid cooling system....great for overclocking |

maximum temp for your CPU is 57 degrees C, it seems... I think you're fine - riding the line, but the cooler the better, eh?

When I play the temp can raise up to 72 degrees. :/

Damn it. I wonder if I'm too lazy to fix it or if I just should let it be as it is.

There is no problem with that, its okay.. should be a little lower but its all about the airflow. The core2duo can take over 100 degrees.

Ok, I'll try to remove the dust-filter in the front fan and see what happens. Thanks.

Idle temp means nothing. Generally speaking though you do want to keep your temps below 70 on a Quad Core. I don't think that you need a fan AND water cooling on your CPU but you might want to consider an after market heat sink and fan.

LOL you obviously know what temp. your cpu should be running at, but you thought that you find a sneaky way of showing us how nice of a computer you have.

That's pretty high for idle, but I wouldn't worry. I keep mine at 30 under load with a TEC cooler.

40 c isn't that bad.. but going to 74c in gaming might be a bit too much.. you will probably get better performance in gaming if you get an aftermarket heatsink and fan.. just try to find a silent one i hate those loud ass ones. oh and be sure to get that white creame thing you put on ur cpu between the heatsink forgot the name of it ..

Better to overengineer than underengineer. I have a big-ass heatsink even though my CPU hardly does any work. Currently idling at 37C with an ambient room temp of 23C

BTW I notice your cores are much closer in temp... on mine (which is an older Q6600) the first core runs the hottest, then the next is a degree or two lower. Third and fourth cores are cooler still. I presume this is because the first core does all of the scheduling; it shares a die with the second core (quad is just two core2duo dies) so there's some heat transferred between the two. At idle the third and fourth core are doing virtually nothing and they're better thermally isolated than the first two so they run cooler still. Just a guess.
CPU 0: 38.0C CPU 1: 36.8C CPU 2: 34.0C CPU 3. 33.8C |

Here's some new screenshots.
Take a look at the first one, it shows the temp for the cores and then theres another temp for the CPU. This is weird... ![]() ![]() ![]()

What CPU heatsink/fan are you using? Stock?
I'm using a Zalman 9500 or 9700, can't remember which exactly. As I mentioned previously there's no real need for that much copper in my case, but it's better to be too cool than too hot. :D |

If you're using stock (would a Q9300 even come with a stock fan? lol) then try removing it and reseating it. Also consider some high performance thermal grease such as artic silver.

I got you confused with that guy who always liked to flash his nuts. I was expecting a nuts-on-minitower picture. I am oddly disappointed.
