lol... astonishing to see ppl from US all drive 4+ liter cars. Those trucks and plump american cars with 5.7 liters have less HP than most 2 liter european and asian cars.

actually your 460 is more like a 7.5 litre

and the 289 is 4.7 but I think it is the same block that they bored and stroked out a bit to end up with a 302 which is basically a 5.0

That's because the Americans havent made a decent engine in ages. Why is it that a 6+ litre engine makes 350hp? It'd be making 600 if it was even remotely efficient at what it was built to do.

Also, I hate how North American's get stiffed when it comes to mini trucks. We have the Ford Ranger which is basically a giant pos since it doesn't have a diesel option. And to add to that - Why the hell would ANYONE buy a pickup with a gas engine? A pickup without a diesel makes you look like a bro-douchebag. Nothing's cooler then a diesel truck with 600lb-ft of torque at like 2000 rpm. They get way better fuel mileage, can haul tons of weight, and sound kickin' rad. Gasoline engines? Waste of time in a truck.. Unless you're one of those aformentioned bro-douchbags who never actually uses it for anything other than driving to the grocery store and never bothering to use your signals.

My daily transportation is a hilariously slow 1.7 litre honda civic that gets 30-something mpg in the city. My not-so-daily is a 2.6L skyline GTR that gets really good gas mileage for what it is, and still makes the kind of power that gets licenses suspended

Yes, I work from home and drive an SRT8 with a gas guzzling 6.1L V8. But I work from home so at least I am not driving to work everyday...

425hp and 420tq isn't too bad no? Underrated from 450hp anyways. What are the 6.0L non-American engines making?

I love my i6 'Stang ... nearly 19 MPG and she takes cheap gas (hardened valve seats during the engine rebuild)

4.0L 6 cylinder petrol here.

This is a typical engine for family sized sedans (Ford Falcon / Holden Commodore) in Australia. SUVs are (unfortunately) becoming more popular here in recent years.

when you buy a 5.7 liter truck you are not buying it for HP you are buying it for torque and towing capacity. my truck is slow as fuck but ive ripped a tree stump out of the ground with it, i would love to see a 2 liter turbo diesel do that.

if you compare the torque you will see that a 2.0L diesel is not far from your 5.7L gas engine

and i don't doubt that SOME people might need a truck, but how many truck owners are ripping tree stumps out of the ground on a daily basis?

or would it make sense to drive something smaller with 40-50 mpg and rent something big for a day from the saved money if you really feel like ripping tree stumps? ;)

I think a better question is, how much is everyone spending on gas each week? I'm spending probably about $35 or less, with a 6.1L V8. How much gas are YOU using? ;)

Gas went up in the states but it is still cheaper than europe. Paying 5.5 Euros / l (1 litre = 0.264 us gallons) is quite alot.

I assure you my 2L turbo diesel bmw sedan has enough torque to pull a tree stump out of the ground. As long as its not some ridiculously large tree stump.

My CURRENT main driver is a Cherokee 5.7 Hemi but I'm going to be driving the 4.0 Wrangler around town when I don't need to room to haul stuff. The Cherokee only gets about 11-12 MPG driving up and down the mountains.

I wasn't able to drive it (stick shift) after 2 surgeries in the fall and just got a new battery for it yesterday. I actually forgot how much fun it is to drive Plus it's a "convertible" But driving it in traffic in ATL is just past my patience point so the Cherokee will still get driven.

or would it make sense to drive something smaller with 40-50 mpg and rent something big for a day from the saved money if you really feel like ripping tree stumps? ;)
I wouldn't be able to leave my house with a 2.0L engine - that's important to me My 4.0 can do it, but it has to be put into 4WDH.

1.9 DOHC 4 cylinder. 32/40mpg, although I drive very little and 1 fill up lasts at least 12 months. I think gas was just $3.00 or so the last time I filled up.

$250 or so .... will be spending more soon.

The V8 with a hipo cam drinks gas like an adult webmaster at an open bar
