Video Grabs from my New Canon HF11 HD Camcorder (PICS)

Got to shoot with my new AVCHD High Def camcorder tonight. It's the new Canon HF11, and it records in 1920x1080 at 30fps and 24Mbps. Did a Halloween shoot with Michelle Lynn. Here's a couple video grabs from the video (they've been down-sized to 1200x675, and ran through my smooth/sharpen filter in photoshop).

I got the shotgun mic with it, and an extra battery (the next size up). Both genuine Canon. Just under $1500 for all 3.

I just ordered an external battery charger (not canon, but $50 cheaper!) and two 8GB class 6 SDHC cards off ebay. The charger was $10 and the cards were $20 each, all with free shipping. I'm getting the cards because it takes a long time to download off the flash drive inside it (about 18 minutes for 5GB - ouch). Plus a 8GB card makes it easy to back up those raw files on a DL DVD - you don't go over like I already have with the 32GB flash drive.

Yep I purchased the same cam from best buy a few weeks ago

so far I love it except the battery life sucks and it very sensitive to changes in lighting conditions. The menus could stand to be a little more intuitive and it feels really fragile in my hands ( this thing feels like you are holding an ipod

It takes forever to download video from it but the qaulity when useed with decent video light boxes is unbeatable for the price

Be ready to read the manual

Yeah, it has mic settings on it!

From the manual: "You can adjust the audio recording level for the built-in or for an external
microphone. You can display the audio level indicator while recording."

Yeah, I bought the bigger battery (BP-819) when I got it. I'm glad I did. I was shocked at how long it takes to download the videos off the built-in memory, so I bought two 8GB class 6 cards last night. Not gonna screw with those long downloads anymore.

Had my first weekend shooting with it. I'm really liking this camera. The extra Mbps are not really that noticeable once it's been downsized for the web (even the WMV HD 720p), but it's nice to have them for any future uses of the content. Plus I'm absolutely sure I'd notice it alot more if I was shooting outside where there's trees or grass - lots of data.

Usually I don't post straight pics without touching them up, and making my girls look their best, but since this is a 'video grab' thread on a webmaster board I decided that I'd post one for you. The only thing I did to this pic is add the logo, and change it from BMP to a JPG. Otherwise this is straight from the video. The still pics from this camera look much better then this (much higher rez), but I bought it with video/video grabs in mind. Otherwise I'd just use my Nikon D70.
