Clinton endorses Obama, calls for party unity

    It's official Clinton endorses Obama.
    http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/06/...ity/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton formally ended her presidential campaign Saturday, saying to a packed house of thousands of supporters, "I will continue to stand strong with you every time, every place and every way that I can."

She urged the cheering crowd to support Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, in his bid for the White House, saying she and supporters should "take our energy, our passion and our strength and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama ... I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me."

Her endorsement was met with a scattering of boos and thumbs downs from the crowd at the National Building Museum in Washington.
Now the race is now between Obama and McCain.

For some reason these situations always make me laugh...

For months on end it's basically "he doesn't have experience, vote for me."

Now that she is out, he suddenly has experience. LOL.

Yes, I know how it works... but it's still funny.

i'm sure it's going to get dirty

i really think the optics of this race are going to give Obama the win - he's young, energetic and the best orator a presidential race has seen in ages - i don't know how he's going to get the win in the electoral college but my gut says he wins somehow.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

I just dont see that is true. Mccain is a horrible speaker and his policies work against econimic and foriegn stability. You can say public speaking is nothing and you would be wrong. Plus Mccain is such a wishy washy bitch it makes me want to

Based on the fact that Hillary said.
Today, as I suspend my campaign, I congratulate him on the victory he has won and the extraordinary race he has run. I endorse him, and throw my full support behind him. And I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me.
So it's not official... to them.

You could also say that Hitler was one of the greatest public speakers of the 20th century, and you would be right. Which goes to show that while public speaking might be an asset in getting the job, it certainly does not guarantee one will do a good job at it.

Obama does lack experience, which is a shame. His public speaking abilities do not change that. Of course, given the fact that Obama's platform would beat McCain's platform even if every single aspect of it was botched in the execution, I'd say Obama is the only reasonable choice now.

To a decent % of her 18 million supporters it means a lot. To another large % they understand she had no choice but to do it or be looked at as the reason for his loss in Nov if it were to happen. And to those people today and anything she says going forward about him won't matter. They are firm in their desire to not vote or go McCain.

If she didn't endorse him it would have helped re-enforce to those on the fence of her supporters to stay away from Obama. If he can't get the majority of her supporters by Nov, he is toast. So her endorsement means a lot even if it was because she had too for the party and her future career in that party.

Up until now, she was competing against him. Most people will understand that one of the points of a competition is to try and come out ahead of the other guy.

Obama has a lot in common with the rise of the nazi party and hitler. It goes further than speaking.

Out of the two he is the most reasonable. Lucky for us we have more than two people running. Bob Barr 08

I guess if the whole country was full of racist assholes he might not win... thankfully, that is not the case.

I honestly don't think she wants the VP job but will take it if he asks and feels he needs her. The best thing for her would to be skipped over and then she can't be a scapegoat if he were to lose.
