Hmm is this a good sales job?

Well i went for interview for this sales rep job.. Its commission only and basically you sell services to business owners to help them collect delinquent accounts to business ..The company is NCSPlus

Anyway, they want me to pay a $250 bond fee for training material and crap, and after training they'll refund me the $250.. From the outside it looks good. Commission is only 25% but the product is easy to sell. Im just wondering if jobs like this work?

Something tells me Ill only get one business interested in 6months, they claim i should be able to sell 3 a day but yea right.

So your commission relys on them collecting delinquent accounts?

nah the commission is selling the product to the businesses that lets them collect delinquent accounts.. the reason why im even interested is the company does shit differently.. they charge a flat low fee per account please their collection success rate is 50% higher than industry norm

if you have to pay money not a good start, it means they do the throw the shit against the wall style of hiring. Throw a bunch it costs them nothing and if someone sticks good for them.

I'm sorry but you still just don't make sense. Just a couple years ago you were hitting it hard with mortgage leads and now you want a commission based only sales rep job in an industry that you have no contacts. It would be different if you are already in the industry and have the contacts and reputation, but you don't.

Go Internet man! it's what you know. You have done it. You can do it again.

Forget the College degree, put your Internet degree to work...

I'm just a tad confused xxweekxx, this is GFY a board for people who make a living in the porn biz. Why are you posting this here bro? Hardly seems the right place. Everyone here is supposed to sort of already have a gig in adult by definition. Not ragging on ya, just asking. Wouldn't there be a better forum to ask this in...if indeed any internet forum is a good place to ask for serious advice about a job.

Im going to give you a piece of advice, I was an executive recruiter. You have to sit down and decide the map of your career and follow it. You may have to make shit to start think long term, corporate america is not adult. I saw so many resumes they went for the quick money and now they were in their 50's and you could wipe your ass with their resume.

Oh okay...I also just read you been in mortgage...I'm in the process of TRYING to buy a new house and can't because everybody is upside down and the banks won't lend one penny more than appraised value. Everybody I know in realestate is hurting bad. Nobody can seem to get a house sold because nobody can afford to sell it.
Good luck bro, I know hindsight is 20/20 but it sure would have been good for you to have kept your hand in adult while you were out doing a "real" job. Hope things work out for you.

Entry level sucks ass..

I just cant imagine slaving away in school to graduate top of class, then get a job working 9-5 and making maybe $40k/yr

But 2yrs ago before mortgage took a shitter i was able to make that 40k in A MONTH sitting in front of my pc..

See why my mind is still fucked up? Once you get suckered into 9-5 you are screwed. yes you get paid but they own your life too

Everyone has to start somewhere. You want it fast its not going to happen, if your looking for a real career. Got to pay your dues. Also if you were making 40k a month you should have enough socked away you should be able to start your own thing.

sounds like you should have quite a savings set aside if u had $40k months... enough to carry you while you start a entry level position or start this job u post about.... well i would hope u have enough to carry you....

i have friends with MBA degree making $45k a year here in NYC... you have to do the time if you dont know anybody...thats the way it is. no company is gonna really offer a kid right out of college, or someone new with 0 experience $90k, company car, etc...

i was in the same position as you, got spoiled in the 90s and early 2000s making money on top of money and then it hit the fan in 2002 until i reinvented myself 3 years later...

this sounds like job that i hope u have good phone skills and can deal with rejection. sounds like 500 calls a day and most likely 499.5 "NO's" a day...

either way, good luck and think your decision through...

ya i do got savings to hold on for a bit but then again iw as spending $30k/yr for school, $2k/month for RENT/bills(in NYC), insurance about $5k/yr.. so total yearly cost for me was very high.. Could only save so much..

Yeah MBA grads making $40k/yr is sad.. I dont see how i can give someone 40hrs/week of my life to get paid like $1000 for that week..

I don't know anything about this company in particular, but from your description I would be wary that their main business isn't collecting delinquent accounts for businesses. Their main source of income is probably collected $250 at a time from people desperate for a job. Check them out to make sure they are real before signing up, man!

I came from the same field as you bro.... mortgage refis are fucked up right now and it seems that the days when you could milk the subprime cow are gone according to new tougher lending laws which aim to pretty much eliminate predatory practices against this "social class" so to speak...

If the new administration is able to fix the country's financial situation a lil bit (very hard) maybe the mortgage broker biz will come back... in the mean time forget about it...don't dwell in the past thinking about the time you lost getting your degree.... instead take your this time to carefully plan your next move and for Gods sake man.. if you ever start to make 40K a month once again... learn how to save money!

Probably the catch is that somewhere in small print it says you get the deposit back after making 10 sales for example... and it's quite possible that it's hard to sell that stuff, so you could not only waste few weeks of your time and not make shit, but you will also be out of $250...
