Who is going to bother to pay the $750?

You have a choice of paying $750 and staying with ccbill, epoch or ibill and taking visa or you can move over to another processor Globill etc and get the same service with out paying $750...It does not make any sense to me....why would anyone want to pay the $750? All you do is get set up now with an alternative processor and gradually your rebills will move over to them and the old ones from ccbill, ibill and epoch will drop away...

People will be paying the Visa fee because there is a possibility that eventually VISA EU will follow VISA USA in its new regulations. No sence in waiting for that to happen?

It has not happened yet though has it...and there is no 100% proof that it will happen...

Correct.

Our of principles you may choose to not pay VISA USA the registration/complaince fees, however alot of people are not too bothered by 750 USD and don't want the headaches of moving to other processors.

At first it was the $750.00 that bothered me, but I thought, hey, I need Visa. Then today I saw the registration form, and that changed my mind. Why the hell do I want to give Visa all that personal information. They really have no need for it, otherwise why do they need 3rd party processors?

VISA doesn't want 3rd party processors.

Third party processors are a headache for Visa and the new regulations are meant to give Visa a better overview of what is happening inside the world of these processors.

Visa rather wants all businesses to get their OWN merchant account so they get a nice database of sites that accept VISA and they can enforce their rules better this way.

Exactly, and I don't want Visa to have all that personal information, or I could have gotten my own merchant account years ago, but opted instead for the security of 3rd parties.

So now, everyone loses. I stop accepting Visa, I get fewer sales. Visa loses, they don't get their percentage. My subscribers lose, unless they're willing to use MC (at least for a while) or on-line check.

But hey, I'll survive, most of us will if we're stubborn enough to stick out this. Just another bump in the road.
