Mac pros are easy and can be just as cheap as a "pc" to upgrade... It's not impressive anymore... If he's doing any type of rendering I believe it np..

Q6600 G0 CPU overclocked to about 2.7GHz, with a Zalman CPU cooler
4GB RAM
Generic video card
80GB boot/scratch drive
Dedicated gigabit link to 3,000GB NAS
Windows XP
Ridiculously large full tower (used to have 7 HDs in it)
Ridiculously large PSU, 850W, again for all of the HDs it used to have

Sound Card: Turtle Beach Montego DDL (Connected to my Denon AVR3802 with and optical cable.)

Speakers: They are the ones for my home theater system - 2 x 300 watt Cerwin Vega LS12's, 2 x Cerwin Vega e-705's for the back, 1 x JBL 150 watt center (I forget the model) and 1 x 150 watt cerwin Vega sub

yep and that's what I will be doing very soon. Computer runs fast enough, but a whole lots faster wouldn't hurt that's for sure. :)

Yngwie 05-31-2008 04:56 PM

mainly the ram and adding 2 hard drives.. I might upgrade the cpu, but not sure. It all depends on the $ I have from the house sale. I have to pay off the mortgage, lawyers and other debts first than pay 1st and last, movers etc.. After that I will see what I have left and I will decide what I need the most.

Yngwie 05-31-2008 05:14 PM

the video card I'm fine with since I don't use my pc to play games so having a high end video card would be a waste of $. My motherboard supports up to 8gb of ram so I may try that and install a 64-bit OS on one of the new hard drive to see how that performs.

My main work station is an old (in computer years) Dell Precision 670 with dual Xeon T processors at 3.6 ghz with 3 gigs of ram and dual hard drives.
My work laptop is also Dell. A Precision 6300 with dual core intel x7900 at 2.8 ghz with 2 gigs of ram and an encrptyed 120 gig hard drive.
My work computer in my bedroom is an Alien Ware MJ-12 7550a with Dual AMD Opteron at 2.6 ghz with 2 gigs of ram
Then I have an accounting computer, a linux box that runs scripts for my tgps, and a spare laptop as well.
