    Is anybody watching 'The Andromeda Strain'?

    I recorded half of it yesterday. The DVR fucked up and recoded all 4 hours tonight, but it didn't record the HD stream. It looks like ass.

    Is it worth looking for and re-recording, or should I just watch the mpeg-to-fuck-480i version?

          Also, it's pretty boring, even with the 4 months of ads the assholes ran for it. Fuck you, A&E. Bring back some good shows.

                  It's on again on A&E later this week, thursday I think. Twice.

                  I still need to watch the 2nd half. 1st half wasn't bad.

                      Second half is almost as bad as the last part of "The Stand" so far. I liked that made-for-tv movie, but this is just turning into quazi-nonscientific-crap. The Was Once On Law and Order guy figured there's a binary code and maybe it came from a wormhole and it's made by NASA. I think I'm gonna look for reruns of Pop-Up Video.

                                                  Watching the last half of this should be a walk in the park compared to that.

The funny part is that they were running the 2 semi-custom ads for this release yesterday, and by 1/2 hour through, it was Gold Bond commercials. Wonder how much Ford shit away thinking that people would watch A&E.

                                                                                                                                      Seriously, if you're into both SF and science, the book was worth it. This was just a "2008 relevant movie" with the "Andromeda Strain" being the excuse to make it.

                                                                                                                                          Read the book, saw the original, and after seeing all the previews I was really looking forward to seeing the remake. The first half was pretty good, but the second half was fucking terrible. I know its a scifi film and all, but the second half was just bending reality and turning it into some shitty scifi tv show. The part where the scientist cuts off ricky schroeder's finger and throws it up to benji bratt was just hilarious. If that wasnt the end of the film and I had already wasted over 3 hours of my life...I would have turned it off right then. Nice job fucking up a classic.
