Just bring a passport and open a cuenta corriente that will take
you 10 minutes. I have a couple of those accounts they're very
handy.

I have internet banking USD accounts ATM Cards, Visa Card
the whole shebang! It depends where you are going. I'm on the
Costa Blanca if you go there open an account with CAM (Caja Ahorro de Mediteraneo) http://www.cam.es/

What is a cuenta corriente?
Is it just bank account or does it mean something special?

No problems if you have sufficient funds to deposit that will cover outgoings.

Banco Atlantico should fix you up but you will need to setup a static accommodation address.

Tenerife would be the best choice if language is a problem as there is more help available to overseas visitors.

Are you sure that i have to have a static address in Spain?
I was informed that a static address within EU would be enough in order to get an account with them..
I have to check this one..
Thanks for the reply anyway..

Correct a finish address is enough cuenta corriente is a bank
type for non residents....this is what you want so you don't have
to pay income tax in Spain on money which is on this account.

I love Portuguese...it's a softer language, like the relationship between English and German.

A "cuenta corriente" is the same thing as a checking account. Strictly translated it means "current account", but people only use that term for countries any more

( I forgot to mention that I lived 23 years in south america)
