thanks, as a shooter I shot who I am hired to shoot. program owners must meet the needs of more than one set of 'urges' to stay competitive. btw the HDV I'm shooting is starting to look just like my photography. -bmb

I totally understand. I sometimes film MILF and interracial scenes neither of which are my personal favorite niches, but I think I do a good job with it anyway. I am a big fan of HDV too, it can look great with the right lighting.

I have gotten used to it after a few years of HDV filming although I think that 4x3 is generally still more practical for porn viewing. 16x9 is useful for certain scenarios however, like the site I film that consists entirely of b/g/g three-way scenes. Me too. Whoever came up with that aspect ratio wasn't a porn fan. We need to come up with a porn aspect ratio closer to 4:3, which worked really well for shooting all sexual positions. There's way too much wasted space when shooting most porn activity. I've come to the conclusion that shooting porn in HD is merely a marketing gimmick. Anyone else feel that way?

How about we black out a bit of either end of the 16:9 frame to make a 3:2 frame, just like the 35mm aspect ratio? That way it's closer to 4:3, but adds a little width, and it's a ratio that the eye is used to. We can call it the "Porn Ratio" and create our very own technical specs for it.

shot a BBG the other day for porn.com. the 16x9 worked fine for that. the issue for me with 16x9 is lighting and dressing the rest of the set no big deal, just a bit more work... but worth it in the long run...

Some guys drop $800 on a shitty HD and still sell it as HD, then render it back down to WMV.
