What is/are the best parts about going to conventions and shows? I haven't been to one yet, so I want to know what to look for! People, drinks parties?

The shows are a lot of fun. But why would anyone bother going if they have no business to do there? I'm looking at the original poster and see nothing to indicate that they are even in this business. If that's the case and you're basically just a surfer then you won't have any fun at the shows/conventions. They aren't the "fan shows" full of porn stars. Maybe those are the ones you should check out. The ones where the models all go and you get to meet 'em and have little private shows with them and such.
Otherwise you are just wasting your money even thinking about going to a business show.
That said...I always have fun at the shows. But then again, I'm the kinda person who always has fun no matter where I'm at. And if it weren't for making money at the shows I definitely wouldn't be there just for the fun.
Matter of fact I stopped attending them in 2002 and didn't go back to one until 2007 just because I was strictly a traffic guy at the time and nobody there could do anything to help me...they all wanted stuff FROM me. LOL!
So every year I would just go to Jamaica or Mexico and hang at the swingers resorts and party my ass off instead of going to the shows.
Now that I have paysite biz to conduct however, it was time to go back to the shows again.
But keep in mind that from 1998 to 2002 I also owned a content company. So I had dual reasons to be there...Content and selling link spots.
Once the content company was sold in 2002 I just stopped going. People still came to me and made deals via telephone and ICQ.
But I am glad that I'm going again. It's been very cool seeing old school people that I haven't seen in forever. And meeting a lot of the "newer" guys who weren't even a blip on the screen back then and now are big players.
But again...if you don't have a business or a big traffic site...there really isn't any need for you to even go at all.
You'd have a much better time at the fan shows.
