They appear to have a trademark on the word Eros and they are in the escort business. Your domain was just HQerosescorts which just comes off as HQ Eros Escorts. Then you also were in the same line of business which would of been the only possible escape clause. Think of it this way, it is like making a site that is called: HQcokesoda -promoting soda. HQstarbuckscoffee -promoting coffee. Then they are technically required to protect their trademark or potentially face loosing it if they do not enforce it. |

Eros was the primordial god of lust, love, and intercourse - seems like it would be hard for a company to claim rights to that.... how can some promoting escorts make Eros a trademark? when eros is a greek god? i can agree with your example hqstarbuckscoffee tho. |

Eros is not the first nor last normal word or phrase used. Now they can not prohibit someone from using the word Eros when it does not infringe on their business. There is a EROS data center used by the US government that would not infringe on their trademark. There was also a movie by the same name that had some erotica (close but did not infringe). If someone wanted to get a domain like for example sinsoferos and dedicated it to the Greek god or even a beverage that boosts your sexual abilities would not be infringing on the named trademark. Hell ask a trademark lawyer they will explain it to your and your frustration. |

This whole situation just reeaallly sucks. I don't think they should have/could have been able to take his domain. Reason # 82,187,893 to use Moniker.
On top of that, he's a good kid and this site was not an eros rip off and just having eros in the domain name should NOT be grounds to just take the domain. If I were you, OzMan...I'd go hard core on ICANN and then sue Eros to boot. Despite having friends on both sides of this, Eros is in the wrong on this one unless there's something here that I simply don't know. |
Well, I just got the scoop from the horse's mouth and it wasn't a trademark of "eros", it's a trademark on "eros escorts" and it's valid.
Sorry Oz, they've got ya on this one. |

ah well, its all over for this guy.
just as things started going well on the site aswell |

Unlucky dude.. that sucks.

I don't believe anyone took your domain. I believe it expired and it now hit the 30 day mark and was able to be purchased. Which Eros quickly did.
