Moral Dilemma: What do I do, GFY?

Hi folks,

Despite my usual 'nasty asshole' facade I've created for myself on this forum - I'm perplexed.

I walked to the local all-night store (I'm trying to get in better shape), only to find that on my way there, a garbage can was mewling. I opened it up, and there was a tiny kitten in the trash. I brought it home and stuck it in a box - in the guest bathroom with some water and I picked up a small kibble when I went back to the store.. maybe 3, 4 days, I dunno.. I don't own cats.

I'm deathly (can't breathe) allergic to cats, but I couldn't let the poor thing go this way.

Despite my allergies, it's a tiny little multicolor orange/white thing - but I can't keep it, that's against my rental agreement.

Vote on what I should do with it, please. I can't keep it, and my eyes are already watering.

if you can't keep it try to find a good home for it amongst people you know first - then post on craigslist for your city/area maybe, if your supermarkets have bulletion boards pin one up for the kitten - last resort take it to the local ASPCA - kittens and puppies i think always get homes.

The last time I've known non-relatives in this city, uhm... it was 1996. I haven't bothered to make friends because I work about 20 hours/day. The rest of the time I cry, and masturbate myself to sleep.

I may try putting some pictures/contact info on the boards at the local supermarkets, but I can't take a decent picture (my printer is an HP 6P; black only, ancient, and a hard worker - just as I like 'em).

I just don't want to break my lease or waste half of my working day for 'oh, maybe's. It's cute, but I can't handle it.

I put a manual 'timer' (I don't have a normal clock) into the room with it. I'll have to reset it or take it out soon, because if the egg timer goes off, I'll laugh, then feel bad for scaring the poor thing.

If he's a little kitten, call up a couple petstores and see if they'll take him. i know the petstore here takes kittens, but only if they're little cute and cuddly. They don't sell too well otherwise.

+1 for a local shelter, kittens get placed straight away. It's the adult cats that have a hard time finding a home.

(In a way that's not always a good thing, since people are going for the cuteness of kittens... a cat aged 1.5 years when you get it is not going to be that much different to a kitten after a couple of years.)

I rescued 6 kittens from a dumpster.. Bottle fed them all and heleped get homes for all of them.. It was crazy feeding and getting 6 kittens to go poop and pee when they were newborns..

There are also no kill shelters that you could bring it to if you had to. This way you know it willend up in a good home. If you put an animal on craigslist you may end up givig it to an irresponsible person.

See if you can find a no kill shelter for him. The local pound will put it down if nobody takes it. Even kittens don't get adopted as often as you might think. Locally less than 10% of them that come in get homes. The rest die.
