What is right in this situation?

If you are using a sponsor and decide to stop sending them traffic, but you are currently below the minimum payment...If you ask the sponsor to issue you a check because you are never going to hit the minimum payment, should the sponsor send you the money that you EARNED, or should they keep the money because it's below the minimum payment? How would you expect a sponsor to act in this situation? I just need to know if I'm out of line to expect the sponsor to send me my money.

UPDATE: Let me clarifiy that I'm not asking what is the sponsor required to do. I understand they aren't required to send the check. My question is what would you do ethically in this situation? The webmaster worked for that money and made money for you.

If the terms say you need tp earn a min. for payment then usually you simply have to make sure you erarn that min. If you don't then they have no reason to pay as you knew when you joined there was a min. amount to earn.

I understand that, but I always figured that was more of something so that they don't have to send out checks quite as often. But if a webmaster earned money honestly and is never going to hit the minimum payment, I know I would just issue him the check if he asked. It seems good for PR.

Well, in my own mind, the sponsor should pay regardless of if it's .01c or $20.00. To me it is like this.

If you get a job at McDonald's, and work for exactly 1 hour. McDonald's is required by law to issue you a check for $5.90 or whatever their rate is.

Now, McD's doesn't have a disclaimer in their terms that states that they will only issue you a check if you make a minimum amount.

Personally, I think the check issuance based on a mimimum amount is just a scam. The affiliate/sponsor is ALWAYS going to screw you. Let's say you make enough to hit their minimum amount, but, it goes a little over. You'll get a check for that amount, but, the next signup you get, you have to go through it all over again.

Just my

It's a MINIMUM payout meaning that $X is the MINIMUM they will pay. If you have not made at least the minumum, you shouldn't get anything regardless of whether you are still promoting them or not.

In all honesty if you have been sending them traffic and decide to stop, by all rights they SHOULD send you the cash, but when has a porn company ever done what they SHOULD do.

If I don't get a check from a company I could pretty much consider it a Russian tax, as every sponsor in this business has been ripped off by far more webmasters then they rip off in turn...

HOWEVER, every fucking big sponsor in this business is CONSTANTLY trying to prove how fucking rich they are: posting pictures of their boats, Ferraris, Porsches, G~wagens, houses, motorcycles, exotic vacations, trhillrides $2o,ooo parties, bags of coke they blow up their noses, etc, etc, etc.

So if you're so fucking rich how about acting like it and kicking me the money you OWE me.

They should pay you.

I can only imagine how much $$$ sponsors keep from those who do not make minimum check amounts and then stop using them.

But then again maybe that is just the way it goes.

I agree: If it's a final check, they need to wipe the slate clean because while there is a check minimum, that applies while you're doing business with them. Once you stop doing business with them, they need to settle up.

I think they ought to pay you if you ask them, and I've heard of some people who've asked and gotten paid. I've got a couple of sponsors that I'm 1:999,999 with ... never bothered to ask for the money, even though I no longer am sending new traffic for them. Just last week I got a check from a sponsor I'd forgotten about ... I promoted them for a while, got a couple of signups right off the bat, but never met the minimum. Apparently somebody hit one of the old pages and signed up, so I just leave 'em lay.

I have several programs that didn't work out for me and I didn't meet the minimum. I've never even bothered asking for it.

If I were the sponsor I would pay you. Keeping things on good terms because if you leave happy, you might give me another shot someday and at least you would only have good things to say about me instead of bashing me to all of your friends.
