My first thought was "Marriage" but I have to agree about "Developers" too.

Buying high powered scripts for a variety of purposes that turned out to just suck in so many ways and require more work than if you just did the work manually.

I bled out thousands and thousands before I wised up.

OH man, I had that EXACT scam experience when I was a college sophomore, it was in a gas station parking lot with the white van and speakers and everything. Luckily I have a natural aversion to any kind of salesman and I told them to fuck off. I assumed they were legit though and never heard it was a scam until now.

globill, psw billing, ibill... PSW was actually processing a paysite so I lost my 10% holdback. (I recall the CEO saying something like "we have sufficient assets to cover outstanding payments to webmasters in the event the company folds." LOL, LOL, LOL)

Also lost money with an offshore "bank" to the tune of about $2500 in about 2002. They were a 2checkout reseller, and I realised (too late) that 2checkout could have been paying me directly.

For me it was misplaced loyalty. I was producing (North America's 1st) video chat and the models were all rookies. Hell, we all were.

I took on too many of their concerns and lost sight of things.

Hindsight is blindsight...

Next time will be much better!
