Using 1 domain for affiliate links and banners

How do you feel about this? What affects do you think it has on SEO if any?

I'm thinking about using 1 domain to manage affiliate URLs and banner rotation across a network of let's say 100 domains. Is this a good idea?

Let's just say this: a lot of programs initially had affiliate tracking links sent to their affiliate program URL, not directly to the site that was getting promoted.

This resulted in the affiliate program getting all the SEO treatment, the actual paysite got none.
Then (the smart ones) switched to where the links went to the paysite, not the affiliate program. Presto - pay site's rankings went up.

Makes sense?

Are you talking about an affiliate program or a blog network?

I'm doing something similar with the ad manager script for my blog networks. Doesn't seem to be an issue as far as SEO goes. I've used meta refresh for linkcodes too. Works fine but I wouldn't use it for everything.

Network of sites. Blogs, etc. Thanks for your input!

you should consider using one domain for that, especially if you own dozens of sites. It would be easy to make changes etc.

Makes sense. But unrelated to what he was asking.

Cool. Thought so ;)

Yeah, totally a good idea. I'm building alot of blog networks at the moment. Having a centralized ad manager is vital for future proofing your stuff

I'm seriously considering doing a centralized link management system, but what is out there for GOOD clicktrackers, with a nice system for organized thousands of links?

Good question. I don't know enough about that really. My script is custom and doesn't track. Just stores the linkcodes etc. There are scripts out there that do that though. Sky is the limit, really.
