You all confuse me. I am not an Epassporte person, I use them like you do. Still there are threads here talking about fraud accounts on epass defrauding sponsors, fraud accounts stealing your money and transferring it to them.

Now they are finally acting like a real banking entity and asking for proof that you are real before allowing an account and you whine.

we are whinning cuz Personally IVe had my act for years, no single chargeback, verified bank act, etc.

and now they want soem docs i dont even have:

They want:
Front and back of 2 credit cards i dont even have possession of anymore
utility bill
voided check
bank statement for 2 accounts
credit card bill
driver license

I agree, the last frauders I terminated, when I dug deeper, I found them all over our system with over 25+ epassporte accounts. These type of regulations will hopefully solve/slowndown that.

Well, epassporte has "issues". They have a very bad habit of losing/misplacing things. Nothing is simple with them and they have NEVER had the staff resources available to them to take care of regular business much less a mass "send in documentation request" I have sent epass emails, and they have answered them 3 months later (no joke).

Now, when I walked into my bank for the first time to open an account they asked me for my Social Insurance number and my drivers license. They recorded the information, but did not take photo copies of the information. I then was able to deposit and cash checks worth thousands of dollars based on that.

Now here comes epassporte that wants a copy of your credit card front and back. They want a copy of your drivers license or passporte. They want copies of your utility bills, they want copies of your bank statements, debit cards and credit card statements.

Now most people here want to know why so much info required? Then there is the issue of what are they going to do with the information? For example, I make a purchase online, and my credit card number is encrypted..no one knows it. But epassporte wants copies of my credit cards front AND back...they have the full card number, CVV2 number on the back AND the signature. Where are they going to keep this info? Who has this info? Will the info be secure? Keep in mind, this place has a nasty habit of "losing" the information they request and then they request it again.

So they want a copy of your recent bank statement? Credit card statement? Utility bill? They apparently want this to "verify": your address...but those statements contain a lot of personal information....that is no ones business...for example...it tells epassporte what your credit limit is..how much is owing on the card...where you shop...how much you spend...how much you have in your bank account.....how you spend your money..what you spend your money on.

Now some would think that is far too much information for the average company to keep, and where they keep it, and who has access to the information is important. With the information gain through this "verification" someone could take your credit card numbers, know exactly where you spend your money, and in essence they could make similar purchases to your account without alarm bells ringing to your credit card company. This information could also be sold to outside companies....who buys products online? Sell that information to companies to target you for phone sales, email sales...postal sales.. You get the idea.

I think it's great they are acting more like a bank, and I still LOVE epassporte no matter what, but I just wish they'd give more time than just 1 month to come up with these documents, I am far away in a foreign land, so for me to get ahold of actual paper bank statements to send to them will take me a LONG time

They say it's a Visa rule. Since when do they follow the rules of Visa? They do not process for Visa, do they? They aren't a bank either. After 4 years of having an account, NOW they worry I may be defrauding someone?

I will probably just let my epass card go. I have no desire to jump through hoops because they suddenly are feeling uppity. I stopped keeping money in there after the Vegas show. I've always supported them but this is just ridiculous.

well we have 30 days to check all sponsors and change back to either checks and/or wire and clean out the epassporte account and/or try to find help transferring funds to PayPal or pay something with it.

this company doesn't know how to keep shit secure, 1 rogue employee or 1 security breach and you are all fucked. not just credit card fraud, things could get really nasty if this amount of data was compromised. The best of the best get hacked, do you really feel comfortable trusting epass with all of this information?

EVERYONE SAY NO AND REFUSE TO USE EPASS, make them back down or lose a large chunk of their client base.

Asking for utility bills as proof of anything sounds like Mexico.

I think... for some webmasters (specially outside of US) could is a problem because not all people have a Credit Card and less a United States Bank Account. I don´t know in this cases what is the way for fix this problem...
In my case have for 4 years the Epassporte account and don´t has any problem. For the verification i have one Visa... but some friends don´t have nothing (Credit Card or US Bank Account)....

Anyone who gives them that much info is begging to have their identity stolen or part of a massive fraud down the road.
