I've heard others talk about some, past and present, but there really have not been any that make you the money of a C4S.

While uploading video, for me anyways, has gotten faster over the years. Uploading video for no sales would be frustrating. But.. I think independants make more money on a C4S type of model then big budget companies.

Niche fetish seems to work better then the over produced stuff. I've heard this from a few people/companies over the years. The more hardcore mainstream, the less sales they make.

But... there is a formula to clips4sale. It's not just about having goodies. You have to get exposure to your goodies versus the thousands of others now trying to get the same. A lot of factors beyond your content only.

I just checked alexa on the clips.com, clips4sale.com, and fetishclips.com.

No wonder everyone wants to be on the front page.

Don't sell it too hard Barefootsies, we don't need that many new studios pushing us off the front page! :-)

Do C4s and clips.com sell the rights for webmasters to use the scenes (content brokers), or just sell to end users?

I can't speak for clips.com, in regards to C4S, they are selling to the end user.

You are not licensing, or reselling to them (the company). They are little more than the store, and processor, that the product/clip/sale passes through on the way to the surfer/buyer.

they both just sell to the end user.

After signing up the clips.com to see the scoop. I see under their COMPENSATION section, and I quote, CLIP PROVIDER receives no less than 40% of the revenue of all revenue generated. Decided I would pass on that.

For those who do not manage their own stores, their percentage is much less. Plus you need to make $400 to get a wire.

Jim_Gunn 05-09-2008 08:24 AM

A 40% split for the studio owner is a lot less than the 60% split that C4S offers. I wonder if that is negotiable with your Clips affiliate rep. I don't mind paying 40% since I am mostly taking advantage of their massive traffic but frankly, I wish there was a way to keep more of that revenue for sales from the little bit of traffic that I self-generate.

Amen brother.

When you have good selling content, I simply feel supplying content to another site/program/vod for them to make 60-80% on your material, and break you off some crumbs under the slogan of, "it's just extra money for you", is not my cup o tea.

A 'partnership' of 60/40 (content) or even 50/50 I could see factoring in if they have traffic, and deal with BW. But not 40-15% (content owner) split

Good thing another alternative is on the horizon. Should be launching shortly. :winkwink:

Shhh...
