GOOGLE deindexes parked domains?

I was too busy and neglected a few of my sites that I was in the process of moving hosts, and parked them in the meantime, but it ended up dragging out to a month or so, and I noticed today when I was resetting them up that a site:www. ********.com query in google showed that the entire domain had been delisted.

I confirmed that with webmasters/tools

how does google know it is parked and not a one page link site?

obvious to me now that parking a domain is a really bad idea as a temporary solution

it was only a pr3 but it had alot of pages indexed and now it is showing pr0 and no pages at all indexed

Wow, I have 5 domains that have been parked for several months and they have all been deindexed. Not that I really care, I intended to let these expire when they come up for renewal but I know they were all listed.

I think this must have all happened in the last few days because I don't recall ever having this problem in the past.

It sucks when you are sitting on some domains that seem to have some nice age and indexed pages and even pr and all of the sudden it is zero.... I've been throwing up some crap for the last few hours hoping to get reindexed asap and I hope that google doesn't keep some kind of flag in their algorithm that the site was parked for a month.

I know I should never have parked them but juggling too many things at once....

the way they are suddenly deindexed almost looks like banned domains

hope they are not fucked, cuz it seems like even if you manage to get a banned domain included again it never seems to perform well, at least what I've found

Wow, if it really is as simple as G penalizing parked domains then an entire industry just had its arms, legs and part of its cock sliced off.

I don't do much with parked domains but traffic to the ones I have at parked.com dropped of the face of the earth about a week ago.

it was only a matter of time. Alot of people were upset with Google's way of opting out of content match distribution and some were even claiming that google's parked domains program was sending bad traffic. so if google can't monetize why would they let anyone else?

Maybe since a "parked' page has no content, since it hasn't been developed, it shouldn't have been in the index to begin with.. sort of goes against the entire intent of a search engine.

perhaps, but a parked page is actually full of content, although the content is pretty much just a directory of links in a way

Yep.

I heard about this last night on ShoeBitch (WM Radio). Sucks for the domainers.

I guess for those who buy parked domains, they - like ShoeBitch, had to contact G to get re-indexed, and explain the domain was no longer parked.

sad thing is some very high priced domains can find themselves parked from time to time and there was always the safety in knowing that when you did get around to selling or using the domain that it was a nicely aged premium domain

Why would google index pages with no content and just filled with PPC links? Don't tell me you are surprised....

So I guess all the bs "domain investors" marking their otherwise inexistant assets to a model that's more a fairytale than anything are screwed beyond redemption.

Brace yourself for a flood of "priced to sell" "killer deals".

Think you might be over-stating facts since I just checked and loads of my parked domains are still indexed and doing quite well - maybe its just certain parking programs that got hit - would make sense with Google rolling out their own parking program

As far as how they can tell - Google has been a certified registrar for 4 years and has complete access to the entire domains database so there is lots of things they can do to match up owners/companies with related domains

I park a lot of domains, but as far as I was aware parking sites don't want se traffic anyway, domainers work typein traffic, so with my parked domains google can go down for a month and I don't care, If I want Google traffic I unpark and put content and links on them.

you are missing an important possibility here, of course se traffic isn't the issue with a parked domain, it is how a domain might be damaged in the long term by being parked at one time.... you say "if I want google traffic, I unpark and put content...."

...well, if the algorithm now has a flagged penalty on your parked domain that persists and makes that domain perform more poorly in the serps due to being recently parked, then you would care

as a possibility to ponder, say your wonderful 15 year old domain gets parked for a month, google notes that, then when you unpark and put your new content on, the google algorithm has a flag that makes your 15 year old domain perform more poorly in the serps than a brand new .info that someone registers today... that is my concern

looking at it some more, I am starting to fear that the domains are not only deindexed but are under some kind of ban now.....

when I noticed the problem I quickly unparked some of my older domains (10 year old with some decent pr that had gone to n/a in this update, they had only been parked for a month or so), put content on them, and set up google/webmasters/tools on them so google would notice them.....

problem is I am getting the dreaded "see webmaster guidelines" comment and it says the domains are not indexed

I hope this is just a matter of a couple more days and they will come back to life with no penalties, but just these symptoms look so much like a dreaded ban that are so hard to ever recover from
