Quiet, if you are interested... Merida, Mexico is amazing. It does get pretty damn hot, but you are so close to the coast. Check out some of the houses here if you want. They seem dirt cheap, and you could have a house like in the movies! :) Not to mention all of the temples you would be near (which i find more impresisve than nude beaches :winkwink: )

fuck - I usually like winter but as it dips beloe freezing here this year I'm thinking I'd maybe like to consider the idea of becoming a snowbird.

TeraBabes 10-14-2002 09:45 PM

The Caymans are great... everything you are looking for except for the low cost of living. It's not terrible, but there are certainly cheaper places...

jojojo 10-14-2002 10:58 PM

Shit you're not the only one from Vancouver that want s to get away from Nov-April :p

This place sucks in the winter - no snow, but it rains non stop (or its just gray)

Some people even get seasonal depression...

I have my eye on Hawaii for sure...
Mexico is the worst IMO - so much poverty etc.
Florida - is home to the worst drivers in the world (u think vancouverites are bad), and it is hot at as a mofo - plus it's either low class or upper high class there... mostly low class :p

5 months in Maui is exactly what I could use - then come back here in May when it gets nice again...

Just rent a condo.

Warm air is not good for your lungs. And the sun is veyr bad for your skin. You can get cancer.

I have been in many different places and currently reside in Spain
on the Costa Blanca.....I live close to some big tourist spots but
not in the tourist spots. This means within 15 minutes I can join
the madness if I want to.

I would however not recommend to live in one of the hotspots.
I live in a very quiet area close to typical spanish villages. The
cost for living in Spain is cheap. Tax regulation in Spain is just
great here......another reason to look in this area.

Housing/real estate is cheap....don't look on the internet though
any real estate agent that speaks any other language than
Spanish will rip you off.

You can manage here fine with english allthough a little Spanish
will help you a lot. If you want more specific info shoot me an

Airlie Beach is heaven!! That would be a good choice......

Or New Zealand, cheaper than Aus and stunning....... skiing one min beaches the next applies to NZ as well - and the best game fishing in the world

A photographer/videographer friend of mine (http://www.somagirls.com) actually lives on Koh Samui in Thailand a good deal of the year. He's got a little website with lots of pics. If they don't make your mouth water for the tropics, nothing will. Here's the link: http://www.onethaiplace.com/

Here's another link with more info on this island: http://www.kohsamui.org

No, the State of Oaxaca has many beaches...after all, it borders the Pacific Ocean. I've never been but I would love to go as it looks beautiful and I collect hand-made Oaxacan Wood Carvings. They are truly gorgeous.

I concur, costa rica is the only place ive ever been that if someone asked me to leave to go there tonight, Id jump on the plane. It is very cheap and extremely beautiful. One of my friends built and owns www.junglehouse.com Real estate is cheap, the people are friendly, and the women are hot as hell... not to mention they love americans (canadians too) going there and how you are treated is comparable to cuba.

damn. Costa Rica, Brazil and Airlie Beach (Australia) all sound pretty sweet.

i'd also really be into Hawaii (which i've been to before), but i'm wondering about full time ownership in the states as a Canadian. hmm... does anyone have more info on the Mariott Maui timeshares (cringe) - the one J.R. purchased?

owning is a pain in the ass if you're not gonna be there for most of the year
