Anyone live in Naples, Fl ? I've been researching different florida locations a lot and it seems nice there. And lots of affordable apts, condos, etc.
Currently in San Diego and prices are way out of control. Plus the CA gov rapes you every step of the way with high state income tax, high sales tax, high dmv fees, high electricity, high gasoline. Ive calculated that a similar style of living I have now in Florida would save me a solid 3,000+ a year. |

Anyone that actually thought Im in cambodia probably has poor taste in movies.

I also have a condo between Ft. Myers and Tampa, which is great because it's only a little over an hour to Tampa, and 3 1/2 hours to Miami/Ft Lauderdale. Problem is, where our condo is, they fold up the streets at 8:00 PM, so I usually head up to Sarasota or Tampa. Never any need to go south to Ft. Myers or Naples, just not much action there. You'll find living costs as you get north of Ft. Myers to be very reasonable. :stoned vik |
Fortaleza, CE, Brazil
You can buy this house or similar for less than $100k: http://www.nazaretorres.com.br/fotos/05/foto04.htm click PROXIMA (next) to see more pics You can have 256kbps ADSL/cable/satellite internet access. Maybe this house: http://www.nazaretorres.com.br/fotos/04/foto05.htm I'm not sure about the price. There it says $280k in numbers, but $170k in words. The average weather (the whole year) there is 29C (84F, I believe). Since you make money in dollars, food/restaurants are pretty cheap. Well, everything except eletronics and computer rellated stuff is very cheap. I live in Sao Paulo, but I'm planning to move to there next year. I just don't know how, since I don't have money, heh. I'm searching for a flat to rent there, I wanna stay there in December/02 and January/03. I've been there 10 or 11 times, but all for just one week (my GF lives there). You can look where Fortaleza is here: http://www.solartours.com/Destinatio...Brazil-MAP.htm |

Its hot these days in Sao Paulo too, but the weather here sucks. Sometimes we have the 4 weather stations in just 1 day, pretty weird.

DragonKing just got a 3-4k square foot place on St. Croix for a very reasonable price. Satellite uplink from what I heard, either way he has high speed access. I have been to the island for a week, and my uncle has lived there for years. The place is such a paradise we picked oranges off the tree in the back yard of our cottage, and I ate some amazing fruit right off a bush in the backyard of a friend's house (no idea what they were).
The island is very 'native' meaning mostly black islanders, but they are all extremely nice, they have wonderful cuisine and culture. 15 miles across, you could ride a scooter and get around easily. Water is bath-warm year round, beaches completely untouched. Has minimal cruise ship traffic, unfortunately also has a large BP oil refinery on one side of the island, but it doesn't spill over (no pun intended) into anywhere else. Oh, and they drive on the opposite side of the road. It's a US territory, but still a UK holdover I guess :) C. |
Low cost? This is quiet we are talking about...dude get a place in bermuda...good investment on top of the perks of living there...rent it out during the high season for 20K a week
|
Ive thought of the Greek islands a few times...i used to go there once a year..IOS...Naxos...I donnt think the net access is anywhere what you need for this biz...although it's been 5 years since ive been there

Quiet - one thing no-one mentioned about Australia is the exchange rate - 1 US dollar buys !.83 Australian.
Personally I'd stay away from Surfers Paradise though. Hervey Bay - a couple of hours north of Brisbane is the place - the fishing is fantastic - they have DSL and they have girls girls and even more girls - it has a big backpacker population so finding models should not be a problem :) |
Mexico eh?
Check out Oaxaca they got nude beaches, so I hear. :smokin |

it's currently 0.54 :Graucho and yes SurfersParadise is not the place to live there's "much" better places on the Gold Coast ! |

Quiet, if you are interested... Merida, Mexico is amazing. It does get pretty damn hot, but you are so close to the coast. Check out some of the houses here if you want. They seem dirt cheap, and you could have a house like in the movies! :) Not to mention all of the temples you would be near (which i find more impresisve than nude beaches :winkwink: )

fuck - I usually like winter but as it dips beloe freezing here this year I'm thinking I'd maybe like to consider the idea of becoming a snowbird.
|
The Caymans are great... everything you are looking for except for the low cost of living. It's not terrible, but there are certainly cheaper places...
|
Shit you're not the only one from Vancouver that want s to get away from Nov-April :p
This place sucks in the winter - no snow, but it rains non stop (or its just gray) Some people even get seasonal depression... I have my eye on Hawaii for sure... Mexico is the worst IMO - so much poverty etc. Florida - is home to the worst drivers in the world (u think vancouverites are bad), and it is hot at as a mofo - plus it's either low class or upper high class there... mostly low class :p 5 months in Maui is exactly what I could use - then come back here in May when it gets nice again... Just rent a condo. |

I have been in many different places and currently reside in Spain
on the Costa Blanca.....I live close to some big tourist spots but not in the tourist spots. This means within 15 minutes I can join the madness if I want to. I would however not recommend to live in one of the hotspots. I live in a very quiet area close to typical spanish villages. The cost for living in Spain is cheap. Tax regulation in Spain is just great here......another reason to look in this area. Housing/real estate is cheap....don't look on the internet though any real estate agent that speaks any other language than Spanish will rip you off. You can manage here fine with english allthough a little Spanish will help you a lot. If you want more specific info shoot me an email < dynamite at adultmonkey dot com > DynaMite :thumbsup |
do australian chicks dig guys with american accent?

A photographer/videographer friend of mine (http://www.somagirls.com) actually lives on Koh Samui in Thailand a good deal of the year. He's got a little website with lots of pics. If they don't make your mouth water for the tropics, nothing will. Here's the link: http://www.onethaiplace.com/
Here's another link with more info on this island: http://www.kohsamui.org |
