It's lack of parenting. I always taught my kid to never fuck with cops and always be respectful and cooperative when interacting with them.

I do. It's because cops have major attitudes. Even if you have done nothing whatsoever. All they have to do is ask and they'll get a reply. No...instead the DEMAND.

Not saying you shouldn't comply with a cop...because you should. But respect goes both ways.

"He should have had thicker skin than that. But he was out to teach my son a lesson."

I found that quote kind of funny. "Teach my son a lesson"... that I didn't teach him.

If the kid is calling cops n*ggers, I have my doubts about an "innocent blown kiss". Most 14 year olds need a beating anyway...

See the paradox here?
If a 14 yo needs a beating it's because the parents fucked up.

A kid that has good parents -decent people- and is raised accordingly, they don't need a beating. If they do then the parents are fucked up and beating the kid doesn't do the kid any good because it has the wrong role model.

There's always exceptions ofcourse.

Right or wrong... has pissing off a cop ever worked out well for you?

I've been in situations where the person I was with purposely tried to piss off the cop and in situations where the person I was with was fully cooperative. Guess who ended up getting a massive ticket and guess who ended up getting out scot-free?

I actually got stopped by a cop just last night... by the time he got to the car I had the window rolled down, both hands in plain view and was waiting for his first question. He said 'You just rolled past that stop sign.' I said 'I did? Sorry about that.' He said 'see ya later' and walked away.

And that's how most of my encounters with cops go.

Don't start none, won't BE none.

I agree there. Ive been pulled over a total of about 28 or 29 times and only got 5 tickets, 2 of which I fought in traffic court and beat. Admittedly most of the tickets I got out of were due to them happening in my home town of about 40,000 people and my dad runs a large business up there, so most of the cops knew me or my dad. My rule of thumb is you have about 30 to 45 seconds to figure out how you and that cop know each other.

Exactly! When I get pulled over I always act respectful. I get off of tickets from time to time. I never admit what I did but always say "sorry officer".

Diplomacy works wonders

My experience last week: Blasting up the 5 my radar detector went off. I backed off and started looking for the cop. Did not take long as he was hiding behind an overpass embankment. His lights were on by the time I rolled past him.

I immediately pulled over and put the passenger side window down.

He asked for the usual documentation which I gave him. He asked where I lived and where I was going. Told him LA - SF.

Then we had the following conversation:

Him: You know, you are the slowest person I have pulled over today. I got you at 90.

Me: I am sorry.

Him: That's okay (as he handed my papers back), just slow it down.

Me. Okay.

Him: What does your license plate mean anyway?

I told him and we parted ways. No muss, no fuss, no ticket.

You people are retarded. I guess everyone loves the idea of a police state where cops are allowed to do things that would get other people arrested. You really think this taught the kid anything? He'll just hate cops even moreso now.

I got pulled over last week for doing 80 in a 65.....

cop: you know how fast you were doing?
me: i'd say roughly 80
cop: wow you hit it right on the dot
me: yea well i saw you but i figured you were off duty
cop: laugh
me: yup, look like an asshole now huh?
cop: your lucky i just wrote my last ticket an hour ago...& dont feel like going in the trunk

now...would this courtesy have been extended to me when i was a teenager? hell na

cops treat older white guys great....28 & up? you're fine...if you're not an asshole

its the minorities & teenagers that take the "rage" from most cops....& its fucked up, we both know it

I have gotten away with SERIOUS shit, or the potential for SERIOUS shit involving cops because of one reason ... "situational awareness"

Anyone drawing attention to themselves or getting in a pissing match with authority of any kind deserves what they get. Dumb asses!

That police officer was 100% wrong .. He should have ignored it.

If someone blows u a kiss & you kick there ass ... The cops would charge u & call it assault. .. So, why couldnt he just ignore it & act more matured.

Kinda strange that most folks here think what the officer did was right ... Shame On Youz.

Who cares who is right or wrong? Who wants to find out when all you have to do is avoid the problem in the first fucking place.

That's the lesson to be learned.

The kid's dad has one freaky looking helmet.

As others have said it just isn't worth it to invite trouble by fucking with cops. They aren't there for some punk kid's amusement, and a lot of them are on enough of a power trip that they will lay the grief on you for looking the wrong way at them.

Lesson learned, maybe the little shit won't blow anymore kisses at someone who can kick his ass in the future.
(unless he's sure he can get away with it)

Just saying I understand why people sometimes chose for a confrontation rather than sticking their ass up to get assraped.

There are a lot of young kids walking around in some fantasy world who think they're billy badass because they listen to death metal or rap and wear their panties outside thier jeans.

That cop did that kid a favor that his daddy should have done and brought him back to earth. When you're a kid and you're that stupid and rude, a beating is the best thing that can happen to you in the long run.

Its pretty funny how people think that hitting a dog to teach it how to behave is totally unacceptable yet "beating" kids is the way to teach them respect apparently. If you have to beat your kids to teach them respect you've failed as a parent long before that.

LOL I think a few peoplein this thread are taking the term "beating" a little too literally. I do not condone the "beating" of children, that is not a way to educate, a little smack every now and then sure doesn't hurt though...

Dogs don't understand the implications of an asswhooping unless you give it to them the very exact moment they're doing whatever it is you want to correct. Smacking a dog for shitting on the floor if you find the shit ten minutes later is pointless. Smacking him while he's in the middle of taking a shit on your carpet is worthwhile.

With a teenage boy you tell him why he's getting his asswhooping before you give it to him, and he knows what's happening and why.

The kids a punk but what laws did he break by blowing the cop a kiss?

The officers time would be better spent patrolling and looking for law breakers.

The cop wasn't going to arrest him, he was going to make him explain his actions face to face. The kid escalated it from there.

while he wont make detective or anyoen else that should be speaking on behalf of the police..im sure he does his job well...he seemed to be able to beat down a kid fairly well

however....the fact that the kid got beat down over a blown kiss was disturbing to me...i dont agree with messing with the police...but they should be able to take a blown kiss....without resorting to violence against a minor.

cause if it was one of us...youd be looking at a year in jail for doign that to that kid

the beatdown wasn't for the kiss, it was for the kicking. Also telling the cop 'I ain't doing SHIT, nigga!' probably wasn't helpful.

Perhaps the kid, or his sister, shouldn't have tried to kick or push the police officer?

If you try shit like that on a cop, it's their lawful reflex to put your ass on the ground, quick.

"The bottom line is he kicked a cop," Detective Sgt. Lenard Diaz said.

Matthews was on patrol April 20 about 2:15 p.m. when he encountered Lance and his sister.

Pressed for an explanation for the blown kiss, Lance told Matthews: "I don't have a problem, n(igger)." Lance also told the officer to "f--k off."
Sounds to me like the little shit was begging for it.

The siblings' father is irate. The blown kiss and the bad words were just pop-offs by a boy, his father said. He said his son's civil rights were violated.
The dad needs a court-ordered bitchslap for being this much of an idiot too, and a second one for failing to teach his kids to have an ounce of respect.

Fact is if his brats had of just kept walking and not mouthed off there would be no issue.

Still, why should you have to give your kid an "asswhooping" instead of just communicating with him? I really hope I won't have to lay a hand on my kids just to teach them the proper way to behave.

Then start when they are born. Obviously this kid did not know the proper way to behave. I can't imagine either of my kids talking that way to anyone.

Sounds like they aren't telling the whole story. The cop could have handled it better for sure but WTF was the kid thinking provoking a cop.

Sounds to me like this cop thought he deserved the utmost respect from society, and was going to look for trouble from anyone who didn't give it to him.

Consider that he is also a construction worker (90% of which are jerks), and he became a cop after his grandmother was killed.
