Remember boys and girls, you don't have to out swim the shark, just the people you're with.

Busty 04-25-2008 03:53 PM

Man I was swimming masters at lunch with some guys today and they told me about this, what a shitty way to go. No rush to hit the water yet until I can go without a suit, don't want to be looking like a seal for this rogue white out there

I think they prefer fish and seal meat much more, but once in awhile a person will get attacked and eaten. Such is life.

The worlds deadliest animal is the mosquito, but I'm sure we are a close 2nd..:2 cents:

I wonder if rabbits talk amongst themselves about foxes , they way we talk about sharks.

It takes some getting used to, as I have the one you wear on your ankle but I like the peace of mind that if a Shark is sniffing around me he will not want to stay.

There's been reports that the shark shield doesn't work as well as they claim.

Why try and scare them away anyhow? They are beautiful creatures to swim with and look at.

The poor guy in CA was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

RAM 04-25-2008 09:01 PM

Crazy shit man

Mr Pheer 04-25-2008 10:55 PM

Sharks dont eat people. He was most likely mistaken for a seal. The shark attacks, gets a taste, figures out its not a seal and lets him go. Of course the damage is done, but they dont eat us. Most other shark attacks happen when a person puts a shark into a defensive position like stepping on one or getting too close. They are really afraid of us.

Tigers and Elephants kill 20x more people per year than sharks do. Soda pop machines kill more people.

And thats the simple truth. Or you could believe what hollywood would want, because it sure sells alot of movie tickets.

bausch 04-25-2008 11:06 PM

I never swim in the ocean, I only lay out.

I would rather look at the beautiful creatures in an aquarium. Don't want them thinking I am lunch. The wrong place at the wrong time was in the ocean with sharks around. I surf, and I like to scare them away.

As far as it not working very well, the dude tests it sitting under a big dead tuna with a great white swimming around. As long as it works a little bit, I like to put the odds in my favor if possible.

SmokeyTheBear 04-26-2008 06:52 AM

i used to surf at table tops everyday

Fucksakes 04-26-2008 07:43 AM

http://www.sharkwater.com/ - 5,000 sharks an hour get killed.

Fucksakes 04-26-2008 07:45 AM

Shark specialists estimate that 100 million sharks are killed for their fins, annually. One pound of dried shark fin can retail for $300 or more. It's a multi-billion dollar industry.

that's a good start

F-U-Jimmy 04-26-2008 08:33 AM

I too live in Solana Beach and its big news here as so many people swim in the ocean training for various events. I got a call around 7.30 am yesterday and was shocked at the news, the family must be devastated. Im not a strong swimmer but I do boogie board off that beach a lot. :Oh crap

Varius 04-26-2008 10:20 AM

Anyone who would stop swimming in the ocean over this, why??

You are thousands of times more likely to die in your car driving to the beach than from any of the sea's creatures while swimming.

scottybuzz 04-26-2008 01:13 PM

there is more chance of dieing in a car crash than a shark attack, so it is beyond me why retards who drive are saying that they wont go in the ocean anymore.

infact your probably million times more likley to die in a car crash

Mr Pheer 04-26-2008 03:45 PM

I heard gas prices are going up today because of the shark attack

MediaGuy 04-26-2008 04:49 PM

This thread is meaningless without highly graphic pics and video.

raven1083 04-26-2008 06:20 PM

thats really scary!Good that I have a pool in my own house!

farkedup 04-26-2008 07:49 PM

you just have to swim BETWEEN breakfast and lunch or sometime between lunch and dinner.... You're safe as long as you're not swimming during the sharks meal times.

actually the majority of shark attacks happen in water about that deep

actually that one was not confirmed to have occurred as a result of a shark attack. They couldn't determine whether her leg was bitten off before or after death. She might have drowned first. Last confirmed was in the 50's

Octopus 04-27-2008 01:20 AM

WoW. Terrible story.

JDog 04-27-2008 01:27 AM

I mean honestly is this news? I would have loved to seen it, but shit the guy was in the sharks fucking kitchen. I have to go with some comedians stand, this ISN'T news. You go into the sharks fucking kitchen you have the possible change of getting either bitten bad or killed. I know this every single time I surf. I surely don't want to be on the news because I decided to go in the waters and surf or swim or anything.

Honestly I have no sympathy for the people that die in the ocean because of shark or other animal related instances. I mean look at the croc hunter, everybody and I mean EVERYBODY knew he wouldn't live his live to the current human lifespan and if anybody did they were stupid.

I wish the only time we heard about a shark attack is when the shark came OUT from the ocean and actually bit somebody, other than that, who gives a fucking shit. Honestly, you go in the waters where sharks may be, you take that fucking chance! :1orglaugh No sympathy for this guy or anybody else kill by sharks, crocs or any other animal in the ocean or swaps or wetlands.

JDog 04-27-2008 01:34 AM

You know and after actually watching the video they have and it saying "BREAKING NEWS" that's just stupid, how the fuck is it breaking news? Guy goes in ocean, ocean has sharks, guy gets killed. How the fuck is that breaking news???

As far as the rest of the country? Well, "SHARK ATTACK!" certainly makes a good headline.

"SHARK ATTACKS BRITTNEY!" would be even better.

It's not jarring, it's not a good headline. I love you hair and you're a great person, met ya a few years ago at a vegas show when I had bright red hair, but a shark attack in the ocean is not any type of news. :( :disgust

It just makes the sharks look bad.
