Have you ever tried to locate your house on google maps and zoom in on it? I can almost see the license plate of my car parked by my house, see swimming pool with people. What the fuck is that? How is that not invasion of privacy? I can only imagine how many fucking weirdos surf those nowadays. How long before they get sued????

Already happened:How long before they get sued?
source:APRIL 4--A Pittsburgh couple is suing Google for invasion of privacy, claiming that the web giant's popular "Street View" mapping feature has made a photo of their home available to online searchers. Aaron and Christine Boring accuse Google of an "intentional and/or grossly reckless invasion" of their seclusion and privacy since they live on a street that is "clearly marked with a 'Private Road' sign,"

That's great!
On a more serious note... I can barely make out my own house while zoomed in all the way. It's hardly invasion of privacy. I mean, if they had street view on a residential street where inside homes and yards were visible then maybe it would be an issue then.
Seriously though, only you can prevent forest fires.ICQ: 468-855-038 | AIM: xthesixthfloorx | I'm awesome.Comment

Yep, being sued over "street view". They claim that "all you need to do is complain" (paraphrasing), and they'll remove it.
I simply call it the "youtube defense" and I truly wonder how long it'll last the way it is now.
I discussed this on another site where people were disputing whether or not a person could transcribe a piece of music, by ear, and then provide it on a website as either sheet music, or guitar tablature. I proposed that they simply use the 'youtube' process by which if someone submits something that another someone claims is copyrighted, just remove it. Where else does one look on the internet for a standard if not google?
Also, maps.live.com is pretty nifty too with their "birdseye" views. I think you have to use IE to use it though.43-922-863 Shut up and play your guitar.

I still do not see what is so scary or how it is an invasion of privacy. People you do not know can see your shit every single day.
I say get a high fence, some privacy shrubs, park your car in a garage or under a tarp thing and STFU.Comment

Well apparently being in public isn't a good enough reason to put someone's front door on the internet...
http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9588_22-6209848.html
Google is considering a Canadian launch of its Street View map feature, which offers street-level close-ups of city centers, but would blur people's faces and vehicle license plates to respect tougher Canadian privacy laws, the Web search firm said on Monday.
Canada's privacy commissioner told Google in August that the feature--which offers a series of panoramic, 360-degree images of nine U.S. cities--could violate Canadian laws if it were introduced without alterations.
Some of the pictures feature people who can clearly be identified, which contravenes Canadian legislation on privacy.
"We are thinking about launching it outside the United States, including Canada, and we're looking at how it would have to be different in Canada compared to its U.S. version," said Peter Fleischer, Google's global privacy counsel.email: [email protected]Comment

So you feel more risk and concern from digital strangers that most likely will never visit you let alone randomly, compared to total local strangers which would be much more likely and prone to rob or invade your stuff?
They can still be viewed from the public. Few exceptions unless usiing angles as well. For instance there is a large gated community by me that has its own airspace as well. So only minimal amounts would be open to public view from an off angle in the air.Comment

No, I don’t want pictures of my house, my car, me mowing yard on the fucking internet. If I wanted that I would name myself Juicy Links or Baddog and post it on the forum. So you feel more risk and concern from digital strangers that most likely will never visit you let alone randomly, compared to total local strangers which would be much more likely and prone to rob or invade your stuff?

So google already stated they planned on properly dealing with Canadian privacy laws. Eek the horrors of such an evil company.Well apparently being in public isn't a good enough reason to put someone's front door on the internet...
