Internet / Computer Security

As some of you know I run a few adult sites ( AWW, Paysites, TGP?s, AVS?s, pluginstories etc. etc..)
What most of you don?t know is that our main business is not internet related at all (Internet is a small part off our business )
OK let me get to the point. One of our clients from our commercial property division has approached me
and asked if I would be interested in financing, and to help market his software
?An Impossible to Crack? Hacker protection software system (or something like that) which he has
been working on for the last 4 years. This system apparently protects everything and anything related to computers and the internet and is 100% Impossible to crack. according to him !

What I want to know is
How can I check if what he claims is true ( impossible to crack/hack ) ?
If it is, could there be a market for this product or do all protection software?s
claim to 100% secure ?

if you wanna know if it's 100% hacker proof then put it up on a server goto www.slashdot.org and post a $1000 reward to the first one to hack it - then you will know

I have a meeting scheduled with him later this month, in our first discussion he mentioned offering $10.000 to anyone who can crack it ! I do know this person is a very experienced programmer and he is also aware that until now there was nothing on the market that offers 100% protection.

heheh I remember that one

there was a mac running ppclinux that stayed up for two years before it was hacked - the prize was the mac

if you want something hacker proof then run a weird or little known OS like SCO XENIX,VMS,SYS 36 and write all your CGI's in cobol - are all the cobol programmers dead yet?

hehe a store down the road from me has an OLD IBM SYSTEM 36 that Im going to put on the net and serve porn - just for shits and giggles - big blue NEVER had that in mind hahahahah

You could pay some white hat hacker "security company" to look at the software for you. There are quite a few hackers who run "security companies" where you can hire them to test your shit to see if it's secure. Check around, you should be able to find someone who will help you.

Or you could make a post on one of the alt.hacking usenet groups about how your shit is is uncrackable, then sit back and watch. Just don't use your real server and make sure you use a chained triple super anon russian proxy to make the post.

Good advice redshift!

Kevin, it is always 100% hack proof until someone hacks it.

psshh, that's it? I wrote a program that does all that, plus also finds a cure for cancer and is able to put men on Mars.

When someone uses "100%" and "everything" in their sales pitch, there is a good chance they are full of shit.

I really like the /. idea, however I would suggest to approach a few hacker forums on the web. A few of those people are very skilled and talented, and they'll do the job just for the pride, not the money. Hit me up Kevin, I'll direct you.

Highly secure and hard to hack - maybe
100% secure and impossible to hack - bollox

If it's conntected to the internet... it's a target.

My sister works for the UK government.... her deparments network system is totally internal and they have to use a seperate network for net access which is not contected to the internal network at any point... why... because the only way to remain secure is to not allow ANY access in the first place?

As soon as the software is marketed, it will be decompiled, when it's decompiled it's readable... if it's readable.... then the chances are there are holes in it.

BTW - Don't care how long this guys been a programmer or how long he has worked on it.... I have never met a programmer who codes anything to 100% perferct never mind to claim it to be 100% secure.

I saw on MSNBC or CNN awhile back a company offering thousands to the first person to hack into their server. At the time nobody had been able to do it.
