KSEX Dead?

Looks like it...
Killer story by my main man, Bourne.

KSEX Halts Internet Broadcasting Indefinitely

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Internet-based radio and TV station KSEX closed its doors Monday, possibly for good.
According to owner Jon Belinkie, the station struggled financially over the past 22 months.
"I believe KSEX had been hurting monetarily since the death of its founder, Mick Rick, which was long before my involvement," Belinkie told AVN Online. "The constant battles with staff, on-air personalities and slow- to non-paying sponsors and advertisers hemorrhaged enough money to cripple the station, and I'm done."
A deal for Vavoom Media Group to acquire KSEX fell apart on the eve of finalization, and the station's partnership with Rude.com proved volatile after Rude's $20,000 giveaway on KSEX in December 2007 collapsed into chaos.

You thought that? I thought you knew better. Only believe half of what you read here on GFY.

But, what was this 20K giveway that turned into chaos? I'm curios. I want to read more or hear it? Did it play out on the radio?

Well, if he is blaming it on rude.com (and me) then that should be a warning to those who would consider doing business with them in the furture.

They've built and empire on content theft and took ksex down with them!

nah, it was more like the site from 1996 that kept on giving. nothing works. its a battle navigating, usability is ridiculous, their streaming setup is really buggy.

i think that dan and jay were the best thing to ever happen to them, but too little too late there.

"hemorrhaging" is an overstatement....i think the site was "losing lots of potential money".... but Jon's pockets might have been hemorrhaging, yeah...

i really dont mean to jump up and down on the grave, but many of us tried to give advice, web people, no one listened. the first thing they shoulda fixed was the usability. my personal opinion was everyone was too wrapped up in being cool and being on the radio and making names for themselves. oh well, end my input. my bad.

they had a HUGE studio to run an INTERNET RADIO STATION....that was the first of MANY issues

what they did could have been run from a living room

I had been there plenty of times to know what they had was OVERKILL....expensive mics, mixing boards, a FULL radio station setup for a fucking INTERNET RADIO SHOW

hey ksex failures, want some advice for the future, check out www.breaksfm.com or www.ibreaks.co.uk

those are both websites run a from a server, not a studio, and they have hundreds of dj's that play monthly with no studio needed! and ALL the dj's talk and play music, plus they have commercials....gosh, whodathunk?

ok i'm far from defending ksex, since it hasn't been what i knew for a while now but a few points:

- a mix show of music can be pulled off from a tin can on skid row. a talk show with live video included cant (unless you're going for that "tin can on skid row" look)

- the new studio was a whole lot larger than the old one. the older one, i think was just right (imo) not overkill, because...

- it wasn't a one man show where music is played and one jockey talks to the world. there were always guests, and those guests were normally chicks who i'm sure would have been a lot more uncomfortable in a living room. Shit sometimes we had press....

Ahh... Jon Belinkie. We worked for him for 4 months for free on the promise of back pay (in 2006). We were nice and tried to help him (yes, I know - stupid). He took his family to Hawaii for the holidays and called me 2 days before Christmas to tell me we that "Yeeeeeeaaaaahh, you won't be getting paid." He owes us $40,000. What a fucking charmer. Let me be the first one to bid him adieu. Get your fat fucking ass out of our industry.

haha, yeah, right

personally, aside from what was said above, I think it would be funny and CHEAP as hell to have pornstars do their show from their OWN bedrooms or living rooms...a webcam, some phone setups, guests (hell, most porn stars I know party with other porn stars in their houses....

ksex killed themselves with overdoing everything for an "internet radio show"

I don't think they ever owned it. They were the top sponsor for a long time, but I think that was the extend of it.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

KSEX.com was worth losing $20,000 a month, they had a large studio, a full time program manager, asst. program manager, paid PJ's and a full time tech.

The owner tried to sell KSEX has one business unit; unfortunately he was unable to do so. He is now in the process of selling off the different business units: content, domain names and, the equipment.

I was on the red carpet at the XBIZ show doing interviews for a much much larger organization, where XXX Jay and I will soon have our new show.

long time!
I remember them from the 90's, I was amazed they were still around!

I've talked to many porn girls who have nothing but terrible shit to say about them too. But porn drama kept them alive.
