Great or very good songs that suffer from overplay

I am going to start by throwing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody into the pot. If by some fluke of nature I have managed to go a long time without hearing it and it then comes on I will stop to appreciate the greatness of the song. However, it has had so much play through the years that I have pretty much overheard it and switch off most of the time.

Are there songs like that for you that you know are very good or great songs but they have just been played to death?

any song if you hear it too much will eventually get on your nerves.

for me it's practically every Beatles song ever recorded. sucks cuz i love so many of the songs but they are annoying now to me.

Stones -
Jumpin Jack Flash
Satisfaction

Led Zepp-
Stairway to heaven

And just about anything from Neil Young. (because he's from Winnipeg our local classic rock station feels the need to play 4 to 5 of his songs every day without mercy)

Love the tunes but have heard them 500,000 times each. Enough already, they've become cliches.

Blame top 40 radio. They kill all kinds of songs. I can't even stand listening to the radio anymore.

Don't listen to the radio... but maybe most of The Police songs that you can hear on the radio are great but overplayed.

listening to radio 1 now and they must have a song rotation of about 20 songs, they overplay everything!!

Anything from Metallica's self titled album. The downfall of a great metal band imo.

Definitely Stairway to Heaven

- beeing a massive Zeppelin Fan it kills me to hear this thing over and over knowing how much great stuff they released

It's like if you praised Pele for 20 years for one particular goal and ignore his entire career..

Nirvana was also super overplayed, haven't played them for like 10 years I suppose..

Hotel California. I thought I hated that song, but realized that it's a great song, I just heard it way too much when I was wee. Now I can appreciate it better.

I am a big REM fan and I really like Losing My Religion but I agree that for a while it was in too heavy rotation especially when prior to that the fans weren't really use to them getting massive MTV play and the like and suddenly they were all over the place. Luckily, I don't hear it that often these days so when I do it is still enjoyable and the three times I have heard it live it has been amazing.

Money - Pink Floyd.

I love Rush but I could stand to hear Closer to the Heart a little less.

GNR - Sweet child of mine

More will likely come to me. Plenty of overplayed shit out there. Nothing like turning great songs into total cliches.

Also anything off of Sublime's self-titled album, "Hey Yeah" by Outkast (was just talking about that the other day actually), "Creep" by Radiohead, "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer and "Everlong" by Foo Fighters.

any hip hop song that gets Top 40 play - not being a hip hop or rap listener if a hip hop song has a hook that makes it become a Top 40 hit I usually like it - for about a minute and a half - i.e. anything Aikon does

oh and that song She Got It by T-Pain
