I am thinking the same. Judaism is much more liberal and open minded than Christianity I think. Religions in general suck though. I don't think we will need religion in a couple 100 years anymore if we can fix some problems like poverty, social isolation etc.

Whatever religion you decide to take upon yourself, keep a few things in mind:

1) Many moons ago, the very advanced Egyptian civilization worshipped gods like Ra, Isis, etc. Their religious devotion was all-consuming (unlike the majority of you today who shape your religion to suit your lifestyle - but that is another thread). However today, it's generally accepted that these gods don't exist - they were beliefs of a less-advanced civilization and we know better now.

2) A few moons ago, the Greeks worshipped Zeus, Apollo, etc. who lived high on Mt. Olympus. They had absolute devotion and belief of these gods which affected every part of their lives. However today, it's generally accepted that these gods don't exist - they were beliefs of a less-advanced civilization and we know better now.

3) Once upon a time, the incredibly intellectual and advanced Romans believed in gods like Neptune, Mars, etc. (many of which became planets, good for them). Their belief in these gods was absolute. However today, it's generally accepted that these gods don't exist - they were beliefs of a less-advanced civilization and we know better now.

So the question I ask is ... Do you not think it's possible that a future civilization, perhaps a few hundred or thousand years from now, will look back and think the same about Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Moses, etc.? (And for the smart asses, assuming humans are still around then).

Just something to consider.
And yes, I posed this question to a few deeply religious people and it was funny - but predictable - they all had a philosophical answer. Each gave a different one of course, but it wasn't surprising: From my experience, once someone reads (and believes) the bible, they magically have an answer for everything. ;)
