Whats the best way to copy all files from one drive to another

Im getting some access denied errors and I dont know why when using windows copy. Same thing with xcopy..

Basically I want to move all contents from one drive to another - I have no idea why sometimes it says access denied when the files are mine

or you can change the permissions. If you have file sharing on, turn it off.

Than go highlight the folder or folders that you have the files that you want to move, right click, go to properties. in there click on the Security tab select then click on Advanced, select the user you want to have access to these files, (whatever user you are) but you can make all the users on that list have full access just so you can move the files. After that you can edit the permissions so only you have full access.. Don't know if that helped or if I confused you, but that should work.

norton ghost from what i remember always wants to do stupid shit like make a giant backup file or copy things exactly from one drive to another (including permissions). can it just do a simple copy of files or is that outside its scope?

Are both drives NTFS? FAT32 has a problem with files over 4GB.

just cuz it's your 'puter, windows still ownes some of the files for itself. You don't have permission to mess with them............by default.

Casper XP works well for complete drive copies. Pretty simple too, just 3 or 4 clicks and a very simple interface.

edit: The newest version is Casper 4.0, not XP. |

Take a large magnet. Rub it on the drive to be copied so it pulls all of the data into the magnet. Now rub the magnet on the empty drive and by the process of equalization it will transfer the infos to it.
