Do black people commit more crime than any other race in the USA?

i guess no one has thought that maybe there are so many blacks in jail because

1) cops are much more likely to arrest a black man, while letting a white man off with a warning
2) blacks typically cant afford the good lawyers that get white people off
3) judges typically are so biased against a black man standing in front of them that they put harsher penalties on them

I totally agree, the thread is wrong since the start, assuming every crime is the same, everybody has the same oportunities, etc etc etc.

Im pretty sure in 'soft' crimes the sentence depends a lot of the judge sympathy, and of the accused skin color, if he is white i think he has more chances to get a provation or any social service sentence, if he black 'its better to keep the nigga in jail'...

I think it's more likely that innocent whites get off more often than innocent blacks (mostly because of prior record) rather than white criminals buying their way to freedom all the time. Fact is, the verdict is almost always in line with your true guilt or innocence.

I agree with that. Everyone has the same opportunity in life from the start, its then up to them to make something of themselves. Sure everyone needs a helping hand along the way but just because you are born into a poor family doesn't mean you are gonna live a life of stealing and no job. I would think there are more white people living in poverty in the U.S. then the entire black population of the country; or pretty damn close to it. I would think a larger percentage of the black population live in poverty though when compared to the white population.

Blacks (as well as any other race) were given the same school books that I was given, took the same tests that I took, had the same teachers that I had, drank from the same water fountain that I did and rode the same bus that I rode...

im not black. and i am not making excuses for black people that are in jail... simply stating, that if you have 2 people that commit the exact same crime, with the exact same prior history there is a MUCH greater chance that the black man would wind up in jail while the white man would wind up with community service, or a huge fine.

I read once that blacks commit 60% of all crime and 80% of all violent crime. not sure how current these numbers are. and to be fair at different times different races have more issues than other races. for instance the Irish had heavy crime issues earlier in the century.

the reason the blacks have issues with prison is the culture, and the federal sentencing guidelines. the blacks have a real problem with the guidelines due to their social issues.

According to the last numbers I saw in an article about increasing violence at black funerals they are. According to the numbers in the paper, the number of whites murdered dropped slightly to 6956 between 2004 in 2006. In contrast, the number of blacks killed rose to 7421. But it gets even better! African-Americans only make up 13% of the United States population, so if you back those numbers out and made the black and white populations equal, there would be in excess of 57,000 homicides in the black community!

Poverty may have something to do with it, but I am telling you that culture has at least as much to do with it, if not more!
