Hell I have a new windows vista desktop that I haven't migrated to yet because I can't figure out how to move everything that you're talking about.

I don't use outlook or trillian, but if neither has an export feature, why not just leave em' on your existing box while you still need em?

If your not currently a mac user, it's a bit unnerving to switch, things seem a little retarded at first, but after you get used to it it's actually alot better (In my humble opionion).

I say go from it, i recently converted from pc to mac and i haven't looked back. I have both xp and os x on this machine (using bootcamp to dual boot, and parrallels to use xp from within os x), and i haven't been into windows other then was neccessary for testing, etc.. since i got used to osx, and i have no plans on going back.

Who needs emails and chatlogs??
get a mac!

What you can do is install windows ( you're gonna anyway likely) then you can move your current Windows PC to your mac seemlessly and intact using parallels
( make a back up first of course )

Nah, eventually you'll get rid of windows all together, but at least you're gonna have your emails during the first few weeks

but ya know, in all the years I used a PC, every format I lost all my outlook emails and ICQ chat regardless of what I tried...

I use to argue but now I only wish that mac haters never ever ever get a mac, I encourage them to absolutely by no means, ever make the switch. Let them suffer.

MA, don't use Windows on a mac unless its sparingly. also, you'll love the macbook pro.

i still have everything - and i really mean everything - from the first day of my business in Trillian and Outlook. which is really really helpful sometimes

anyone use http://www.adiumx.com/ on Mac? it looks like it stores the chat history the same way trillian does - as simple plain text files

Adium is great ( although the most recent update was a nightmare )
Pretty much the same as Trillian without the eye candy
and if your trillian keeps your chats as text files, why the problem backing them up?
Tabbed chats are a godsend too

I saved everything from PC to my mac .. as noted above .. powerbook is a bit outdated .. but it is still a pretty damn good comp ...personally i just saved stuff like histories and mail as files in folders and they are on my back up HD .. if i ever need them again ... it was awesome to start fresh ..faster cleaner and happier .

Adium is wonderful on the Mac. Way better than Trillian on a PC.

I use adium, but i don't really use logging as i don't really im all that much. Just make a small partition, use bootcamp to install windows on it and import your stuff there, you'll still have it if you need and it and if not, you can start going forward w/ mail (thunderbird, or whatever), and adium.

Btw, you can definitley import outlook to thunderbird on windows, then i'd imagine you could just put it into your mac install of thunderbird.

just a note, but you'll need an intel mac to run windows.
So make sure the powerbook isn't a G5 model.

what would the world do without google: http://www.riches.com.au/articles/ex...-entourage.htm

and of course i meant the MacBook Pro - not Powerbook. looking into the 15" version cause i carry it around a lot. only 2 usb ports is a little disappointing for that price though
