they are the only registrar I know that bought <our name here>sucks. does that tell you something ?
a few years back things were REALLY bad.
... its gotten better but I would only use them to register a domain. Use a registrar to register, a website hosting company to host
... buy secure certs from a place that sells certs ... email from email companies etc. works for me.

Sounds to me like they are a bunch of shystersWhat the hell? I just got a complaint notice from GoDaddy that they are terminating my service for a complaint they received against my domain and they don't seem to be providing any links, proof or anything? What gives? Some guy sends a complaint about my domain and they can disrupt my entire business? And now they want $100 to transfer the domain to another registrar or $199 to fight the complaint? This is complete bullshit! Since when has GoDaddy been doing this? Eugh, what a great way to disrupt all my sales and traffic!!
And of all domains, they have to do this to my tracking server! What the hell!!

Let me see if I understand GoDaddy correctly.
I can file a spam complain. They will hold the domain hostage until the Exstortion payment is made. And then release the domain.
Even if the domain in question never spammed or did anything wrong?
Thats fucked up.

I contacted godaddy (president AT godaddy .com ) regarding this matter to clarify if they are idiots or actually do some investigation before kidnapping a domain and this is the reply I received:
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.
Please know that Go Daddy takes a very active role in fighting spam. We investigate
every complaint received. That does not mean that we suspend anyone
just because a complaint is made.
An investigation involves contacting the customer to determine whether
they are abiding by our Terms of Service, and, specifically, our
Anti-Spam Policy. If it is determined, based on our investigation,
that the customer was sending spam, we may take action to correct the
situation up to and including suspension of services provided for the
offending domain/website.

define it, what we allow and don't allow, and what we do in cases of

Well they did contact me first saying I have 24 hours to respond. I responded about 3 hours after getting the email and they took about 2 days to reply to me. Of course by then my domain was already suspended. So while they may have done their "investigation", they never gave any chance for me to understand the nature of the complaint.
