British airways is not bad too

yep emirates are good.. flew to bangkok with'em few days ago

the only thing i did not like is dubai airport - their main hub. i dunno why but i really hated the place.

Singapore and Emirates, in general many airlines from the asian and arab region are top notch (Thai is good, Malaysia, Quatar)

Unfortunately many US and european airlines suck, especially when it comes to service, worst service award goes to US Airways.

LA Crew 04-04-2008 12:16 AM

Definitely Swiss for international flights

BetChips 04-04-2008 12:48 AM

Southwest, they sure do know how to pack'em in!

I flew Frontier once a couple of years ago... best flight I've had... partly due to the reason that there were like three other passengers on the entire plane lol...

Other airlines I've flown recently include

Continental - 3 1/2 hour delay stuck in Houston, TX. - I was exhausted as I didn't get any sleep before the flight - and to top it all off, the all the seats in the waiting area of the Houston airport all have arm rests, so no where to lay down and nap when you're flight's delayed 3 1/2 hrs! lol

U.S Airways - Something about that company I don't like... just seems very dark.

West Jet - have to pay $5 to watch a movie - and a very limited selection.

American Airlines - Flown with them twice - all flights on time - good service - no complaints.

Air Canada - Once again, no complaints.

United - No complaints

I should mention one other that nobody else did.

Aerlingus

I flew them once. Amsterdam to Dublin on New Year's Day 2000.
Personally, I thought it was a great flight but it felt like St. Patricks Day on that plane.

so dam cheap and when they have their offer days i go crazy.

i am flying to denmark and norway for 4p, not taxes no nothing, the flights have been paid for, done and dusted.

beat those prices.

even without offers prices are under £70 usually.

uncorftable planes and shit customer service, but at that price who cares?

That's just amazing. I wish someone offered a similar service like this down here in Brazil.

:thumbsup

It all depends on if you are traveling domestic or longhaul on a lot of these airlines. For example, with US Airways they are pretty crap for domestic flights BUT of all the airlines I have traveled between the UK and the States they have been the one I enjoy the most. They have the best entertainment system in coach than any of the other transatlantic players, have only been slightly delayed once out about about half a dozen return trips and the seating is comfortable even when I was at my largest size.

British Airways is okay but not as good in coach as people would make you think.

Of all these, I have to say Air Canada was the best. Newest aircraft with nice direct flights from Montreal to LA, and very cool "on demand" movies and shows on the back of every seat on the airplane. Westjet is a very close second.

JAL is the best I've taken, but not sure if they go anywhere besides Japan.

I find most full service asian airlines are quite good.

The top of my list would be cathay pacific or perhaps singapore airlines.

US airlines just can't compete - they are way way way behind!

cthulhu_waves 04-04-2008 09:24 AM

i go for continental

jakethedog 04-04-2008 09:32 AM

stay away from US airlines and continental if you can .. westjet is by far my fav ..

Bryan G 04-04-2008 09:38 AM

The only decent US airline Ive been on was United. The rest are fucking awful.

OY 04-04-2008 09:45 AM

1. Pan American
2. Nigeria Air
3. Aeroflot

Domestic US: tried Frontier for the first time and it was great. I was able to watch Monday Night Football live for 5 bucks because they have a live DirecTV feed (in coach, no less). Southwest -- despite their untested airplanes -- has become a little less nerve-wracking with the numbered positions in boarding groups. No more need to feel like I have to wait in line for two weeks for the second coming of Skynryd when I have a large carry-on. Delta is terrible, domestic and international, with delayed flights and the worst customer service. The little airlines are/were great, like JetBlue and one that had a green theme with yoga music during boarding. Can't remember who they were but that was a nice one, albeit overpriced. Continental gets points for having the BEST pet service, domestic and international.

International to EU/US: Swiss Air is great. I used to love British Airways but they ALWAYS lose my luggage and Heathrow is the worst airport in the universe, with fucking Charles de Gaulle a close second. But I am addicted to their goddamned World Traveler Plus coach upgrade. Fuck luggage!?

Domestic EU: EasyJet, Vueling, Ryanair.... they're all the same, full of wacky Euros who love to bumrush the gates and the seats are not wide enough for my fat American ass.

When I was a travel agent some people would try to fly them to the States because they had a very unique system at the time where if you flew them to the States you would clear US customs in Ireland. I am not sure if that is the case now post the Good Friday agreement and 9/11 but it was at the time.

Emirates is suppose to be one of the best flights to take.

People elect FOR lay overs just to get on a emirates flight when possible from what i read. I plan on taking this flight from to Dubai when we go.
