That's why I've given up on all forms of "handshakes" and all forms of variations on "good bye".

"Ink" is also lame. "Sick Ink, Bro" is like - not disrespectful at all, just makes me feel like you're a nerdopants or some type of redneckaholic. dig, cool cat? ;)

unless "tat" just comes naturally for you, in which case shout it from the hilltops

So was I lame when I called it "new ink" the other night, Rhonda?

It's ok to say so, if I was... wouldn't be the first time.

I think I might have even called them "tats" at one point.

I still like the art near your ankle...

I did not say or suggest that all chicks would feel that way, just that the person in questions had to be. I was correct.

I have never met anyone, male or female, that ever suggested it was an insult.

I do have to laugh at those that suggested this was a "new word." I have been calling them tats since before most of the people here were born. Many others of my era have.

the word tat

I've been a tattoo artist for 29 years. It's kind of like calling a tattoo machine a tat gun. Mostly cums from prison. Not really wrong, but not right either.

Easily explained...

When you say "tats" you trivialise it. You remind them that these days everybody and his dog has one.

They are not special anymore.

Most older tattooed people still see tats as a real personal statement, they hate being reminded that now a days it is as significant or rebellious as having your ears pierced.

Personally I don't see the big deal but I don't have tattoos. My GF has a few but generally she ignores anyone that makes a comment unless they have tattoos themselves. But I can see how disrespectful tat may sound.

People in general are too damn sensitive in my humble opinion. Most times you can tell by a person's tone if they are trying to be offensive and even then I don't get offended, I just write them off as someone I'd be friends with.

I have tattoos and they are there as a personal expression and not because everyone has one. I care less what other people, even my friends call it. I just know what they are and what they mean to me.

Hahaha! Vic stole that vocab from me! I'm very eloquent. (don't know what "yao" is though, yo)

Personally I don't care what words people use, it's how they use them.
