Popups get through in Safari on both the Mac and PC, for anyone interested.

No auto-popup you mean?

I've actually not had the opportunity to try Popit on IE6 but I thought that IE6 was all tight and shit like IE7.

Popit acts a little bit different for IE6-7 and FF2, in order to not throw popup blocked messages on 100% of the surfers with no return it steps back a little bit and does not attempt auto-pops etc.

I guess I need to change this setup a tad though.

Wish there was an easy way to run multiple different IE versions on the same computer..

I've popped things a few times to test and have only seen the MP pop and no pops for any of the sites I added to the list. What's the rotation scheme?

You can choose any MP site and it saves in rotation.. it's only in the links list it defaults to GMGB.

It's a straight rotation.. link 1 2 3 return 1 2 3 return 1 2 3

Please double check you've saved more then 1 link... I'm trying to figure out which is your account but I can't ... if you want you can hit me up on ICQ for instance 36521 five six and I will make sure you get setup properly :)

That's where it gets tricky you just have to be an affiliate :Oh crap

Yep, I figured that much...but regardless of what site I choose and save, it defaults back to GMGB and not the site chosen.

insomniac is the account. I don't have ICQ installed on my lappy. I'll head upstairs in a few and give you a shout.

Rotation seems to be working properly now. Still not able to save any MP site aside from Glamour Models Gone Bad.

Stats are tracking and the results are immediately visable.

Thank you very much for this great tool!

Thanks everyone so far for the kind words and taking the time to use it.. it seems there were still a few small isues but we are working them out as they are presented to us, so thank you once again and please if you do notice an issue let us know so we can fix it. :)

Dollarmansteve 04-01-2008 09:26 AM

would love to see pop-ups get out of the dog house. Anyone who knows... knows what quality traffic they drive.

Pete-KT 04-01-2008 09:31 AM

Ok but thats a popup on click not an exit console, so basically your giving the surfer a popup on a page while they are still on your site which might make them eitehr a: go to the otehr site instead of yours, or b: leave your site because they think you have infected them with spyware.

You can choose popup or popunder. Not sure if that makes any difference to you.

Glad you like it !

Also as I mentioned earlier, you can save any site and it will go straight in to rotation. However, the list always shows GMGB ... that does not mean that GMGB is rotating though, if you saved it with Julia Bond and then go back to the list then Julia Bond will be in rotation but the list will say GMGB so you need to choose Julia Bond again if you're going to modify the list.

Sorry for the confusion.... it's on my todo :)

lol, I've noticed a couple of accounts with ratios above 100% ... need to oversee the stats system a bit. I think it's somehow not tracking the attempts properly when one surfer goes to multiple sites in your network.

I'm using a Mac, but I have Firefox 2.0.0.13 and turned off popup blocking and it still didn't load... I also checked in Safari with no luck. Camino at least showed the "glamourmodelsgonebad wants to show a popup" but when I let it through, the window was super tiny, in the corner, and the content was just the main page but more compact? I hope that helps :)

In the latest versions of Firefox and Internet Explorer Popit will not even try to run auto-popups. This is because I don't want 99% of their users to see "Popup Blocked" messages as it kind of devalues the site.

Instead, we stay quiet in the background waiting for user interaction, when someone clicks a link (or anything else for that matter) within the site etc ... then we launch.

Try it again but don't wait for an auto popup, instead let the site load and click somewhere ... you will see the popunder.

In that sense, Popit works best for sites that makes surfers want to interact .... if your site completely and utterly sucks, Popit is not going to work THAT well ... but if your sites are interesting and keeps people moving around then Popit will deliver great results :)

Seems they have some error on their page though, says I have to update to the latest version of Firefox to use it but I got the latest version already.

Will keep it bookmarked and see what goes, thanks for the link! :)

Still nothing :( I disabled adblock and popup blocking with no luck. I went to the pictures, then videos, then features pages. Maybe popit just isn't Mac-friendly :) I imagine most of your traffic will be from Windows users, so it might not be an issue...

I have tested Safari, IE, Firefox and Flock (all up to date) on my Mac and all have worked exactly as the program describes.

I also tested on IE7, Flock and Firefox on Windows and Firefox on my Ubuntu box. Again, not a single mishap. The pop fired off as it should each time.

You could be right about that as I never tried Popit on a Mac .... I think candlyflip commented though that it worked on Safari for both PC's and Mac's ... maybe Firefox differs more between the two operating systems then Safari does, I have no idea to be honest lol.

I didn't have any issue. I was on my Mac when I first checked things out. If it hadn't worked, I wouldn't be using it :winkwink:

wow .. thanks man!!

for me being on the road all the time I have very limited resources as far as testing in multiple operating systems / browsers etc ...... I really appreciate the help! :)

Cool idea. works well. Im sure you want to encode that script tho, its currently unprotected.

amateur-skin 04-01-2008 06:10 PM

FF2 with "block popup windows" enabled = no popup

heh, yeah that does raise an interesting issue.

the script is packed, not encoded. I believe that Popit is more then that piece of code. It is That then it's the link rotator, the stats and all of it in a few minutes or less with no technical knowledge required ..... Popit is a strong product.

one could go through some lengths to just copy parts of the code.. but one would also lose significant parts of the product.

it's up to each and every one ... I don't pass judgment :)
