I didn't say they were right OR wrong. My statement to sum it up for those who need it spelled out clearer is this:
In this day and age getting the truth or the straight story is next to impossible. There have ALWAYS been people who believe they are right no matter what. One persons credible source is not the same for another. If all things being the same and both parties of the equation represent truth, How can you get the true answer? You can't. Look at how long the debate on the JFK assasination has been going on...
I mean, a vast majority of people believe in God simply based on faith and what someone told them, whether it's from a preacher or read straight from the bible. Does that mean he exists? No one can give definitive proof if he does or doesn't but that will never stop people from believing what they want regardless of the reachability of fact based on truth.
The only truth that will ever come out of this whole debate is that people will always believe what they want to believe.

You are right... There is alot of real truth to most of the things they are rapping about, as a matter of fact I like what they are saying. We DO need to step up and point out all the fucked up shit that goes on in our society. Make people see whats happening...
BUT...
I think it is irresponsible of them to make the chorus of "Bush Knocked Down The Towers", which is repeated over and over, like it is a fact based on their other observations in the song.
These guys are icons in a generation of kids who have forgotten to think for themselves. They are so blinded by the haze of a "ME" generation that they will literally believe anything they are told because they heard it from a celebrity.
I see it as just another abuse of power, not unlike the abuse of power they are rapping about. If they had left out the chorus this would be a completely different debate.
As celebrities in a celebrity driven generation I think they should be more responsible in how they deliver their message.

Mos Def does not fit into that category. Without commenting on his specific works, I can say that I feel he's a very intelligent man.

I think you're taking it all wrong. I don't think they are in any way trying to state that Bush had anything to do with knocking down the towers. Why would they go out of their way to discredit all the legitimate statements they make with one crazy one? It's just a statement to grab the listeners attention. They're using it the same way a good headline pulls a reader into reading an article. By screaming out "Bush Knocked Down The Towers" over and over, they are bringing people who may not have cared to listen to their message into listening to it. Which I think is a good thing, because they made plenty of legitimate points throughout the song. Especially the point where they discuss what would you do if some group invaded and occupied your neighborhood?
Like I said early, I'm not a big rap fan, but I can respect what Mos does, because as you have said, he comes across as a very intelligent man with the message and words he sends out. You've gotta give a man props for doing what he does. Especially when he gone on to be not only successful in music, but also movies. A lot of rappers have tried to make the transition, but Mos does it well.Comment
