Being traded is just business. Pierce was unhappy for a very long time.
That's just business.
Pierce was a loser for all but one year of a decades time. They had to go out and get him a team. Kobe has been to the Finals with two different squads.
Can you find me any quotes from Kobe proclaiming himself the best player in the League? And if he did say it, could we all imagine the ramifications?
Celtics were a better team in the Finals, of that there is no doubt. However thinking Pierce is better than Kobe is just being a Celtics fan. And being a Celtics fan is kind of gross.Comment

I'm serious. Players do it all the time. Ruben Patterson called himself the Kobe Killer. Dennis Rodman thought he could shut down Shaq. Gary Payton thought he was better than Jordan after his rookie preseason and they played a winning game against the Bulls.
This topic would be worth a thread if it was someone other than Pierce claiming he was better. ie David Aldridge claims Pierce is better than Kobe. I would expect star players on teams to think they are the best player in the NBA.aamos AT FFN dot com

This team argument is sad. Basketball is a team sport so there is always going to be other players. I can use this team argument to argue against Kobe just as easily as you use it to argue for him: Kobe had Odom, Gasol, Fisher, etc. and STILL lost despite being the league MVP. Lets not forget he also had the coach with 9 previous rings.

But take the off-season off and get over it. No one even knows the context PP said it in - whether he was joking, whether he was serious, who he was even directing it at.
(And BTW, the only thing that the Finals and PP *did* prove is that while PP may not be the best in the league....neither is Kobe

i remember BEFORE the series nobody was talking about the Celtics being favorites even with Bynum out - Gasol is a Euro pussy in the Dirk Nowitzki mold, he wasn't going to be a difference maker. The best player in basketball, whoever that is, would have played better than Kobe did against the Celtics.
