My lady is the same exact way. We have a floor standing fan for the winter and a fan that fits in the window for the warmer months and neither of us can sleep without it.

I am used to sleeping with the TV on - always have been and it helps me fall asleep but since we moved in together, she's totally against having a TV in the bedroom since i like to leave it on all night and not set the sleep timer. :1orglaugh Not to mention she doesn't want a huge TV brightening up the room while she's trying to sleep.

Funny someone would bring this up though.

I can't sleep unless there is fan noise in the room. When traveling I turn on the bathroom fan ... Interesting to see how many react the same.

an esential part of a good nights sleep :thumbsup

I prefer the noise and the wind blowing on me.

I was sleeping one time and the ceiling fan came off!!!

Luckily it didnt hit me, but it scared me shitless! What a way to wake up!

I just turned mine on - just to fit in

OMG, I thought I was the only person who did this! I hate going to hotels, friend's and family's homes (though I do have "my" room at my brother's with a ceiling fan), even the hospital because I don't have my fan :(

It's not the noise, it's the wind. I have to have it facing me either from the ceiling fan or from a floor fan. And don't try any of that oscillating crap - I want it on me the whole time!! And yes, even when it's 0 degrees outside :)

If I'm somewhere I can open a window I'm OK but if I'm in a hotel room where I can't open a window then I have that AC blowing full blast all night long.

You bet - air purifier... sound, moving cleaner air, great sleep.

I am the same way about having noise.

I don't have a fan but I can't fall asleep without the TV on...

during college I did this. Same deal it drowned out sound. Originally was using it in the dorm rooms to keep cool... But then even in winter it helped keep noise down. Now most the time I have the TV on until I pass out. Or put the sleep timer on.

I've got pretty bad tinnitus so I slept with a fan really close to my head for a lot of years to distract me from the high pitched ringing when it first developed. I've got a bit more used to it now though and don't really need it altough I prefer at least a ceiling fan on anyway to move the air around a bit.

Only on the really hot summer nights.

Never needed actually.
But I can't stand the noise, so I'd just put it to freshen the room and then switch it off.
I don't like ceiling fans over the bed. They seem they may fall anytime. :Oh crap
