You are refusing to send him the completed work that he did pay for. How are you not grasping that?
Even if he did pay you up front, would that have changed the outcome? You continually led him on with unrealistic timeframes and eventually there was a straw that broke the camel's back. He put up with it for a long time for a simple job, right up to the end.
Send him the 10 banners he DID pay for. How hard is that? He was a lot more understanding than most would be in a similar situation.-uno

It would have changed the outcome, because I'd have the money for the work I did. Work was only a few minutes late today, on the final deadline...he sends me the money he'll get everything I did. He was already sent the url to the banners and the zip when the first project was completed. For some reason I think him asking for his work with a solid deadline actually hastened you to finish it on your extremely extended timeline which you were late on time and time and time and time again.
Send him the work he already paid for. You say you sent it, he says he never received it, toss him the link to the 10 banners he paid for on the 18th for work that WAS paid for. No harm in that.-uno

You think someone who's making such a big deal about the timeframe and seems hard up for the banners...wouldn't have downloaded them when I sent them to him originally? And what exactly do you think he sent me the money for on the 18th if he didn't get the banners? He's already said several times in this thread the first batch were done on the 18th. So obviously he got them. For whatever reason, if he didn't download them...I'll resend them for $120, the amount owing for the final 10 banners I did.Comment

My time isn't free...and as I said before, for someone who's acting like time matters and you were in such a hurry to get them...you should have downloaded them when they were sent to you on the 18th...you only paid after they were sent to you.
So you don't want to pay me for the banners i designed, then the $120 is for the time I didn't have to waste designing them.
You're the one who started arguing, so I'm glad you're stopping. A few minutes late on the last deadline you gave me today wasn't worth making this much bullshit over.Comment

If you don't meet a deadline... even if you only miss it by a couple of _seconds_, you haven't lived up to your end of the deal, and the deal is off the table. It doesn't matter how much work you put into it or what personal problems you've endured. You failed to live up to your end of the deal, and, at that point, the deal is _only_ extended at the pleasure of the other party.
Quantum-X doesn't seem to want the late goods, and he has every right to refuse paying for them, provided he's also refusing to receive them... which it also seems he is.
So, that settled, there's the (what's now a) separate matter of the money that's already exchanged hands.
Insofar as I see it, your only real recourses here are to either provide him with the file he's requesting (the "I already gave it to you once" argument is kinda asinine, I think... (hopefully, you see it, too now that you (again, hopefully) understand what a "deadline" is).... and only speaks to a severe lack of customer service skills - especially considering you have copies on-hand), or satisfy the situation by giving him back all monies he's given you for the associated project, thereby terminating all current relations.
But, then what the hell do I know about running your business?

Yes, and with all the bullshit I've been dealing with...things with the final 10 got delayed...and I was given a final deadline today to have them done. I was done animating them (a few mins after the deadline) when he basically told me to fuck off that he didn't want them. The guy was obviously in no rush for the banners, since he didn't download the zip file I sent him over a week beforehand for the first 10 banners...and him knowing the situation I've been dealing with, and that I need the cash for my move...5 mins more shouldn't have turned into this big on an issue. I got the job 13 days ago, and minus the other weekend I was away and easter weekend...there's 6 days I wasn't working. So basically he's pissed that it took a week to get his 20 banners...which the majority of the time I'd been trying to find a new place to live and he knew that. So to know today that I was within minutes of having everything completed and then him cancelling the deal...was kinda prickish, unless you're not a very understanding person. I know work's work and this is a business, but I've been dealing with something that's been totally out of my hands...and I'd assume anyone that was in no hurry for something could understand that.I'm not really understanding this ...

I know you feel squeezed into a corner BA. Pride is a tough thing and a bit of it on both sides I think. My suggestion, and take it as you will, is to put up a zip of the other banners you completed sans payment. Throw them in to help cover up the disagreement. Ill tell you now a move like that will get your more biz than what you lost in doing them. Just my Considering its not like you can use them anyways.

what you dont seem to grasp is the whole concept of "deadline"...as D pointed out earlier even if you are 5 minutes late, and you yourself have admitted to being late, you lose any right to the argument "he owes me money"...but atleast I can put you on the ever growing list of designers not to ask about work.
