I always heard it was to keep flies out of the beer?

Did some research 'cause it was bothering me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corona_(beer)

In this instance, I'd say wikipedia's full of shit. :)

Notice how the "myth" has a citation that actually backs up the assertion, and the claim says "citation needed"?

I'm guessing Corona, themselves, had something to do with the way that's worded on Wikipedia.

I've heard that "myth" spouted from the lips of Mr. Michael Jackson (the late beer expert), himself, over a couple of pints at Lucky Baldwin's in Pasadena.

I'll take the word over the guy who was, in his life, considered the world's foremost beer authority over that of wikipedia any day of the week. :2 cents:

A little sidefact for ya: In Holland, domestically, Heineken come in brown bottles. They only put their exports in the green.

Funny, they only show green at the brewery.

At the Brewery in Holland?

Maybe it's their tour for foreigners. :1orglaugh

Or maybe you caught them doing a run of exports, or whatever...

My source for the info I provided is a number (that number being 20 or more souls) of beer enthusiasts who live in or have traveled extensively through Europe.

I've never been to the brewery (or Holland, for that matter), myself.

Actually, it seems that green 25cl twist-off cap is brewed in the France and exported throughout Europe... seems it's not made in Holland. :2 cents:

Which... brings me back to my original statement. :winkwink:

http://www.rogue.com/brews.html#shakespeare if you like the taste of hops, then try this one. YUMMY! only one store in this area sells them that I know of, but they carry a ton of varieties.

Big Red Machine 03-26-2008 06:33 PM

There was a Pabst Blue Ribbon brewery in New Jersey. It used to have this huge 40 foot bottle on top of the building. I just passed it the other day and it was torn down and the building gutted. I think it won a Blue Ribbon at a Fair they made up.....lol

viencarl 03-27-2008 06:12 AM
