Note that the Rev. Wright belongs to the era of politicians like Strom Thurmonds and Robert Byrds (both mentioned above in this thread). He was part of that generation, or the generation immediately after. So while his "US of KKK-A" speech is antiquited and untimely, it's something that for all intents and purposes has real gravitas for somebody like him.

Wright is not a politician, a pundit, or a Reverend with nationwide feed and appeal. He has no power. He's an old man suffering from bits of bizarre paranoia and delusions about the government from a time past. It's unfortunate and I would hope not too many others subscribe to his more outlandish beliefs, but I really don't see it as anything more than that.

But what is your definition of anti-American? Does it refer to somebody that wants to see America perish?

Farrakhan may be a separatist, but Wright's associations with people of all races both in the Marines and outside, suggest that he is not. Somebody above posted the name of Senator Robert Byrd, who was once a KKK member. I don't see the kind of separatist racist rhetoric coming from Wright that came from him, which was unmistakably separatist and anti-American speech:

"Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.
. . . I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side"

Falwell and others have made crude remarks about America (re: 9/11) which could also be interpreted as anti-American. One difference is that Wright apparently had no intention of appearing on on mainstream tv like the late Falwell and Robertson love to do. For what it's worth, mainstream music artists have used sayings like "AmeriKKKa" and have sold those albums nationwide. I don't consider this to be anti-American in the conventional sense.

Wright's time in the Marines doesn't change the things he's said. As a white American I would never vote for someone that supported him enough to go to his church and listen to his hate filled rhetoric for 20 years.

You are correct when you point out that Wright is no different than a piece of shit like Jerry Falwell. Thank you.

Hate for what? I'm not clear on what you think he's hating on. Hating what he sees as bad policies? Bombings of innocent people across the Atlantic? Hating on White people? Please elaborate.

Btw, aren't you the same guy that's constantly rooting for Aztlan?

Jeremiah Wright is a "blame whitey" negro.

I strongly support immigration reform that would make it easier for people to obtain work permits and citizenship.

"typical white person" is a horrible crime but saying "negro" is perfectly OK?

Nice logic you're working with there.

The word negro has no place in a serious discussion amongst adults outside of a clan rally in the 1950's.. and even then it's a pretty fucking racist.

You could've used "Asshole Dicksucker Motherfucker".. but no.. you went with "negro". I with that single action you've revealed the very driving force of your argument.

..I can't even believe I've wasted even more keystrokes on your ignorant ass.
Good day sir!

Tell it to the United Negro College Fund.
Why won't you answer my question? What should I say instead of negro?

Has anyone else here noticed the one single constant trend about Obama haters on GFY?

Every anti Obama poster on GFY has been a bottom feeder... a loser.... or some other form of outcast

have you noticed that not one respected name has bashed Obama on GFY?

Not one sucessful person has bashed Obama.

you have not seen xxxjay or pipecrew or shit even 12 clicks bash Obama here

why???

coincidence...? I don't think so

it clearly obvious that losers and wannabes hate Obama.....its clearly obvious that the painfully poor and uneducated wwbmasters who bash him are driven by envy and raw misguided hate.

While the educated... self made... sucessful... intelligent and good looking people either support Obama or are indifferent to the whole race

just an honest factual observation. Read through this thread and look at what people are saying first...then look at the name.

rev. wright is *the* most important issue in american politics today! nevermind our great economy, here watch this 30 second sound bite and go back to sleep

there's no issue here. i'm very thankful there's so much scrutiny of McCain's pastor who is just as crazy as Wright! very equal.

this whole things a fucking joke. almost as much of a joke as this forum and the idiot racists who fill it.

That's a fantastic video - let's reverse the problems of America by turning white people into slaves just like they did with us, even though these particular set of white people were never involved in slavery!

Ah, good times ahead I see. By the way, if America is ever run by some prick who says "dis" and "dat" instead of "this" and "that" I might have to introduce him to my "thaseball that"...

By the way, Obama was talking about his grandmother.

"The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity," he said. "But she is a typical white person. If she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know. . .there's a reaction in her that doesn't go away and it comes out in the wrong way."

Obama claims typical white persons are racist BUT "every generation is feeling less like that". :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Oh boy.

African Americans get journalists fired for much less, like a noose on a golf magazine cover!

"It was the disobedience and rebellion of the Jews, God?s chosen people, to their covenantal responsibility to serve only the one true God, Jehovah, that gave rise to the opposition and persecution that they experienced beginning in Canaan and continuing to this very day.

"All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are ? were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment. And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans."

John Hagee said all of these things. He is a prominent Texas pastor who has referred to the Catholic Church as "the Great Whore," calling it a "false cult system" and "the apostate church." Hagee has also compared women to terrorists and dogs, and made light of slavery.

McCain sought out and has admitted he is proud of this endorsement while, on the other hand, he has denounced the stances and statements Hagee has offered in the quotes above.

a key difference is that McCain isn't the one running on the idea of bringing people together, unifying people etc. and then going every sunday to listen to his "mentor" of 20 years preach hate speech and racist rants. McCain is exactly who he says he is and doesn't pretend to be something he isn't.

IllTestYourGirls 03-24-2008 08:18 AM

So will he do the honorable thing and step down as the GOP nominee because he has broken campaign finance laws? After all he helped create new campaign finance laws. :error

i can say this a million times... and it will go totally ignored because everyone has this fierce "us against them" mentality about politics... but i'll do it just for fun...............

i think McCain, Obama and Hillary are all HORRIBLE CHOICES. Obama is probably the least worst at this point.

my point in everything i said is not about taking sides, it was in commenting on what happened. i am a little stunned that some people can so easily dismiss a pattern of absolutely horrible racism, antisemitism and separatist views. who the fuck explains racist remarks by saying "my grandma is a typical white woman...." when they are campaigning on "unifying people" and eliminating racial division?

for those that support Obama... it changed nothing. they just said "oh... see... he explained himself"

but clearly for a lot of people that were on the fence, they were very disappointed. ignoring that fact or pretending it isn't happening is pretty crazy.

IllTestYourGirls 03-24-2008 08:28 AM

100% agreed. I think we are on the same page :pimp

I am not going to vote for the less evil though.

I still can't believe people are flipping out about 3 words from a 40 minute speech. It didn't sound bad at all to me.

BTW, Obama back up above clinton in polls.

According to MSNBC Gallup National Tracking Poll: Obama 48%, Clinton 45%

They seem to be attributing it to his speech and the endorsement of Richardson.
