Drupal - have you been enlightened yet?

I was looking for a blog type cms and After reading quite a few reveiws good and bad about it (drupal), I gave it a go. It wouldn't matter what i post about it because at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference, but if you were browsing the WHATS NEXT aisle, this would be my first on the list.... The admin configurations give you so much more than the standard, and if you are a newber like me, understanding wtf just happened has been made a snap by educating with help text and descriptive amble capable of having your cat become a member. I'd say most would be first to whinge about what they say is a lack of choice when it comes to templates, so just configure your own without having to first search the web for plugins and then configure it through many different browser actions, inevetably eating up precious time you could best invest on your own simple configuration. *this would also appeal to those wanting to retain as much integrity of thier current site design. Heres a look for yourself.

Thanks for this post. I've been playing around with Joomla and WordPress and am not happy with either because it's so hard to get a simple site template that I want. I just installed Drupal and will start playing with it today so I hope I like it!

That's a very good post. I'm choosing between WordPress and Drupal. The Drupal demo looks pretty light and I wonder if it has all necessary plugins right out of the box like image gallery, antispam and others?

What I read that Drupal wasn't indexed that good by search engines in comparison to WP and other CMS's.

Is it easy to install? I don't want to play with SSH or something to make databases etc. Some time ago I downloaded a manual with those instructions. It doesn't look user-friendly to me

Drupal can index on search engines just as good if not better with the correct setup

drupal is more a "community" site than a blog site. Wordpress is better for simple blogs.

But if you want to develop something with a community feel, or a newsletter or newspaper feel, something with open membership, drupal is pretty good.

I'd say it's blog function is pretty poor.

It's got some peculiarities, to. Not as easy to upgrade as wordpress.

Hmm, wonder how it comes to just writing things myself. I've shied away from these types of software because I can usually code it myself quicker than reading the documentation and figuring out how to do it in some other system. I wonder how versatile it is. I guess I should check it out and see. I might be able to use it for something, at the very get a few good ideas for future stuff I write.
