Alex Ovechkin - the GOD of hockey

You look at AO and wonder, what was that hype about Crosby? Oh, besides being Canadian, what does the punk ass has that would make him anywhere close to Alex THE Greatest/?

Sweet, Caps came back tonight against the Thrashers and AO hit 60

I've always liked AO because he loves to barrel through people like a train, be extremely physical, while at the same time being an awesome, skilled player. That's the main thing he has over Crosby IMO.

Love watching him play. Love that he likes to be physical too and you can see that he really enjoys himself out there.

He is a real talent--skilled shooter, fast, and hits like hell, too.

Just got back from the Buffalo Sabres game a bit ago... now THAT was depressing. It's not so bad losing when you at least go down fighting but these kids didn't even show up tonight.

AO is great he will be a great player for a long time but he is not heads and shoulders above Crosby I see this ending up as the same argument as Lemieux/Gretzky. Watch them booth play and you will see the difference AO looks like he is working hard to do what he does (gretzky) where you watch Crosby play and you can see that the game comes so much easier to him then everyone else on the Ice (lemieux).

As for God of Hockey well he wears a wings jersey with the # 5 on it those who know hockey know who I am talking about and know with out a doubt he is the best active player in the NHL today

I've always liked Ovechkin much more than Crosby. He's just lights out entertaining and does some amazing things.

Only thing I worry about with him is injuries as the all out style can wear you down especially as he gets older. But yeah, it's great to see him doing what he's doing and hopefully the Caps can squeeze into the playoffs.

He's definitely good but some Russians have a tendency to fade after a few years. Pavel Bure and Alexei Yashin are a few hyped players that come to mind. Ovechkin may be different because he is not a floater like Yashin was and he more well rounded than Bure was, but wait a few years before calling him "great".

Besides, Crosby is still the highest points-per-game player in the league so far this year.

I love the way he celebrates goals, like it was his first goal ever in peewee or something.. He looks so excited every time he scores, and gets his team fired up.

Russian players eh???? Tell me little a story about Daigle, Faloon or Lindros.. Its not “Russian players”.. its “players”.. AO won’t float. He’s the real deal.

I wouldn't put Bure anywhere in the same category as Yashin. Injuries are what really caused his career to fade. He was stll putting up decent #'s in Florida before the knees went on him.

You're right - Yashin was in a class all by himself - completely useless.

I've considered Ovechkin a FAR better player then Crosby right from the start. Crosby is a prissy little bitch.

Bure was so not a product of hype. He was the real deal and the most exciting player I ever saw live.

I will agree with most all of that I mean when I watch him play I love that he is physical in his own end and throws his weight around reminds me of one of my all time favorite players Cam Neely but with Gretzky's hands

Crosby getting the hype has nothing to do with the greatness of his playing or have anything to do with his better or worse than AO. Crosby gets the hype because his face is more camera friendly so the sponsors love him.

I can't believe a bunch of media professionals and pornographers to boot wouldn't get that faster than an Ovechkin slapshot.
