Generally, I don't care one way or the other - but if I'm reminded of some tradition, or it's put before me - I'll generally try to abide by it unless it forces me to go out of my way.

Religious traditions and directives (as this isn't really a tradition since eating meat will get you 3 hail Marys)... are put in place for the idiots.
People that follow them are like dogs. Pretend you have a dog that doesn't know you are the alpha dog. It will treat you like a bitch. But if you give it some instruction it will fall back in line.
Now think about religious morons that don't eat meat on Friday. They needed someone to give their life a focus and this is that focus. Now they are good dogs.
