My dad was also a contractor, Mechanical engineer. He was a project manager for Marubeni. He was over there for a couple of years, and at first, he was just coming back every other month for a few days. We went there for the last 8 months of his contract.

It's actually really nice over there. I mean, it's hot as all hell, as you'd expect, but everything in the city is green. They've got sprinklers going all day long. They filter water from the ocean. It's amazing, you're in the middle of a desert, and all you can see is palm trees and green grass.

People are generally pretty friendly. You can haggle in just aobut every shop around, which is pretty cool.

Heh, it rained once in the 8 months i was there, for about 15 seconds.
