    Avatars are for kids - we are grown up!

    GFY is already slow, everyone knows it. What is point in having avatars now? Most of us hosting our own avatar, and loading of them from dozens of different domains adds up even more time. Not to mention the slowdown caused by massive sigs, already.

    For me, avatars are fun .. and suits to a surfer or kids board. If you think it would help people in branding their product of something, I guess its not the case .. none is using for that purpose now, everyone showing boobs, gangsters and some funny pics.

    Whats your take? yay or nay?

          Well if it was about kids that would be ok, unfortunately, there is this weird race of those, who are waiting, waiting for a chance to get noticed...

          Those are not the people you would ever do business with or that you would ever meet, because society rejected them a long time ago, but they are here..

                  GFY is slow because of their server/coding. Not going to slow it down much. There's boards 20x the size of GFY that load instantly running the same board software. They have all the features on too

                              I'm cool with the avatars. I wish more people would put their own pictures in them instead of all the witty and funny avatars that I've seen all over the place already. I like to know what people look like that I'm talking to. But I guess a lot of people on here kinda hide what they do for a living or something...thus the nicknames and so forth. But putting up a picture of yourself for identification purposes as your avatar isn't being a kid. It's good business.
                              That being said, I chose one of myself when I was drunken and confused.
                              My strategy is: That will be the way I look at any of the conventions when someone is looking for me to talk business. LOL!

                                                  I can't say it really bothers me much either way. GFY was pretty much the only board without them and I never particularly considered GFY to be the adult table of the boards.

                                                                          Avatars make a difference esp after you've gone to a show and may have forgotten someone's name but recognize their face or vice versa. I don't know how many cards i have in my rolodex that I can't put a face to. It also helps when you're at a show and you can approach someone you ahven't met and say "hey!, you're ABCD!"
