so much more .. probably online 14 hours a day min these days .. its all for the affiliates :)

Gunni 03-19-2008 03:09 AM

I picked less, but I don't really know if it is less or just more fun now.
Fortunately the gallery days are behind me now, I hated making and submitting galleries...

dennisthemenace 03-19-2008 03:18 AM

I work less than when I started. My life off the net situation is way different or I'd probably work the same.

majortom 03-19-2008 03:29 AM

much less..but maybe smarter...the learning curve was hard and passionating -18 hours days for 3 years.
Now since 2 years I reap the rewards.
Just been spending the afternoon at a deserted beach...the white immaculate sand was making creaking sounds...a little bit like fresh snow...

JimmiDean 03-19-2008 03:47 AM

Far more

DutchTeenCash 03-19-2008 03:52 AM

more but different work no gruntwork

V_RocKs 03-19-2008 03:56 AM

I do just as much only I do it smarter... I taught myself PHP/MYSQL and basic design + HTML and CSS.. So before I would hand create shit and now I just put it into a DB and do some htaccess tricks to have the server do shit in real time.

fastboy 03-19-2008 04:15 AM

More now

ravo 03-19-2008 06:59 AM

Definitely more now.

TheLegacy 03-19-2008 07:06 AM

I've been at this for over 13 years now - and I would say more effort. What tends to happen after a while is that if you do not keep yourself fresh and out there - your easily forgotten and shadowed by those trying to make a name for themselves. Since the industry turn-over is high and new webmasters show up - your name, reputation and business is "new" to many.

CarlosTheGaucho 03-19-2008 07:12 AM

Well I am not around for 5 years.

Started in Livecams 4 years ago, then went somehow here, dealing with the biggest companies in the business, and proud of it.

Effort is always great, but the key is to work smarter and more effectively, to focus on concrete points that you want to achieve every day, and, as in my case - also to get more relax and time off.

Remembering very well how much energy I wasted with worthless cases and worthless people..

Yeah, agreed on this. What's interesting on this and other comments is that sometimes it's the "grunt work" that keeps you able to keep yourself fresh. Understanding what it takes to actually get something live versus just asking someone else to put it live or market something.

my back is killing me from sitting in this chair.

Couldn't have said it better myself! If you're not down in the trenches on a daily basis it's very easy to lose sight of the "current reality" of the industry.

kowalsky 03-19-2008 12:03 PM

I have been 9 years in this business, all I can say is that now in my 33 I put less effort in everything that I do, except on the effort that I do for keeping a cool life.

BiggleJones 03-19-2008 12:04 PM

Much more time for me!

Roald 03-19-2008 12:09 PM

more right now for sure.

almost 9 year in the biz now!!

Karupted Charles 03-19-2008 12:16 PM

Automation was a huge time saver years ago now it is a necessity to survive. The pie got bigger but there are way more looking for a piece making it harder to make money. Many are giving up which is great for those that stick with it and willing to work harder for a buck.

Brad Gosse 03-19-2008 01:29 PM

I do less work now. Most of my stuff has been automated or outsourced,

Martin 03-19-2008 01:42 PM

About the same, but it's picking up these days. I feel its going to get busier too since I joined a team that has some big plans and I want to be part of it. My goal is to retire at 40, then play poker in different countries around the world for the rest of my days :)

Imortyl Pussycat 03-19-2008 01:58 PM

I only have 3 years in but the workload seems to be growing exponentially. I guess if it wasn't, we wouldn't be successful so I try not to complain too much :winkwink: great post Alli

kaktuz 03-19-2008 02:35 PM

more for sure, its so much harder now then few years ago... ;)

Haha, I love the giving up stuff. I must admit I have evil thoughts occassionally wishing others give up.

VeriSexy 03-19-2008 04:56 PM

A lot more effort now

zabijaq 03-19-2008 06:10 PM

I'm in for 2 years but I have to agree with most. More work. And it's also fucked by falling dollar for non-US.

Lace 03-19-2008 06:46 PM

Just below 5 years :( Boo on me.

Imagine if you calculated all those hours in that chair.

Probably easier to calculate the hours not in the chair. ; )

But about the giving up ... I think people are just now realizing what all the other affiliate program owners were complaining about all those years. We had a spurt of programs open up because everyone and their brother thought the money was in affiliate programs and you could just use NATS/MPA have a few sites get a rep and then, viola! be rich overnight.

I always expressed that programs were more work to run than people thought and I think that is finally catching up with people.

xxxjay 03-20-2008 12:38 AM

More effort thanks to fuckwads like tube8 and redtube!

venus 03-20-2008 12:48 AM

May will be 11 yrs that my site has been up, 5 yrs ago, about the same amount of work as now, 8 yrs ago..working my ass off.

GoNe 03-20-2008 02:38 AM

I put in a LOT more effort these days.
